Hi there! I have noticed there aren't that many communities that talk about the original gamecube titles, which blows because they're my favorites! Nobody outsaide of this forum is talking about stuff like the unique town layouts of the original games, nobody is showing their towns. I'd like to meet friends who are invested in those games and maybe we could chatb outside of this site too! I'd love to see more ACGC towns and discussions. So, i'd like to know some things:
What are you guy's favorite town layouts (waterfall types, cliff types, number of tiers etc...), what's your favorite and least favorites features about acgc, any place where we could meet up and chat about this game? What do your guys' towns look like? Don't be scared, i love to see other towns, even if you might think they're ''ugly''.
If you know any community primarily or only about ACGC and you'd like me to join and be your friend, let me know!
I agree, I think the first Animal Crossing was a really strong entry to the series. It has a lot of charm and magic that you don't really see anymore, especially with the later titles like NH. I started with the GC version as a kid and I have a ton of fond memories. I miss a lot of the quirks and special NPCs that don't really have a role in NH like Booker and Copper, the post office pelicans, Gracie, etc.
I don't remember the town layouts much, but I remember as a kid I always loved the three tiered towns because they were rare and felt more 'special' to me. Some of the quirks I really miss are villagers interacting with you more like posting on your bulletin board and sending you out on a scavenger hunt or quest. I also miss the fountain, though I don't really remember what purpose it served and I never figured that out as a kid . Oh! and you cant forget the weird random ball that would show up!
I think ACGC had a lot of fun quirks and more of a personality that NH does, unfortunately. I really really hope the next installment of the Animal Crossing series goes back to its roots and adds that charm that is missing from NH. Its still a great game but makes me miss the old days when I was a kid running around!
i've had a fixation on 3-tiered towns since i was a kid, but lately i've been wanting an east/west waterfall tile as well as a river right under the house acre. those feel kind of up there in rarity along with 3-tiered towns. unfortunately, with the constrictions of the ACGC tiles and space, i don't believe a town with all three things is possible. i've played around with the available tiles on a save editor. for example, there are no waterfall tiles that exist on a corner cliff. iirc, no corner cliff tile with a river exists at all. you can't place a bridge or get tortimer's third bridge on a tile that has both a ledge and a waterfall. i guess 3-tiered towns are losing their appeal to me because it's pretty much impossible to have a winding river and a funky cliff layout that doesn't just split the town into 2 or 3 rectangle-ish tiers. this would be my dream map but you can see several examples of tiles that simply don't exist
maybe it's possible ! i'll hook up my gamecube and reset for towns to see what comes up for leisure sometime, when my memory card finally arrives in the mail
I picked it back up. I burned out of New Horizons a few months after launch and last month I tried it again and recognized the same patterns so I broke out the Gamecube lol I don't know how long I'll stick with it but I'm liking it right and it's giving me the pace I want from Animal Crossing.
I learned a lot about how I want my zen garden to look from New Horizons so I'm going to try and see what I can do with my town in GC. So far, a pitiful amount... but planning and witnessing the progress is fascinating. This morning I cut down all the trees in a sizable portion of the city so I could re plant them in a different order. I used the sightlines through trees to "carve out" a lot of paths in my NH island so I'm hoping to achieve similar results. This took days of gathering fruit and it was glorious
^ I like the idea of taking inspiration from NH to try and design your town in the GC version. I'd love to see how that turns out when you're finished with it. Welcome to the community by the way!
