Last played sometime in late May of last year. Then got a bit bored of it, so I decided to take a break, which ended up lasting longer than I initially anticipated. I do this with video games in general sometimes. Saves me money too.
After seeing lots of videos of people playing it lately, and turning on my Switch to see a news message about a reward for visiting the official Nintendo island, I figured I'd try it. I've missed out on a loooot of updates.
First time trying the Dream Suite thingy- never got into NL so never tried it in that game. It's pretty cool! I did the Nintendo town which was meh, and one random town which was better.
I didn't go swimming/diving yet, but ordered a swimsuit and snorkel for tomorrow. Also ordered the expanded storage for my house, as I left it at almost full apparently.
Town has a bunch of weeds, and every time I enter a room in my house there's a cockroach. Lol.
That's it I guess, but man I didn't realize how much I missed this game... not hard to get into for me, and with the new updates, I may go back to playing it!
Anyone else play again after a long hiatus?

I stopped playing last year after only a few months, I had a total creative block and needed a break. I was gone longer than expected and apparently missed a lot! I also missed a software update, that rolled out the swimming option, so imagine my surprise when I read about this online lol!
I never tried the dreams before either, but I'm really enjoying it! Nice to visit other towns to get some ideas.
Now I'm back to playing it way too much... and I'm loving it again like I used to.
I stopped from June-Dec 2020, I've already slowly stopped again since a few days before the snow disappeared. Nothing to do, money making is slow, like.... nothing to do at all. Festivale gave out some cool stuff but there was nothing to the event. Net some feathers. Turn them in. Get stuff. Took like 30-60 mins.
Getting burnt out of a series is very possible, I mean I used to be a big FPS game nut but that was basically all I played for over a decade so you could imagine how burnt out I am of those type of games...
Don't talk to me or my 400+ sons ever again
And by "sons" I mean phones
The longest break I took was a month. I still enjoy this game - even if it's just talking to my favorite villagers and ordering the time-limited items. Although I wish AC was giving us more content, the small item updates seem to be enough to bring me back constantly.
I took a break from sometime in July till sometime in February. World of Warcraft takes up most of my time but it's good to have AC as a different kind of relaxing game to play. I often find just checking in, inviting an animal to the campsite is enough after work.
All the events and people trying to get everything instantly and create complex design layouts with their villagers crammed in one corner is not for me. My island is old AC style with my villagers spread out. I do like the fact we can make the island what appeals to us indivually as everyone has different tastes and what one likes another doesn't.

^villagers will never move out without your explicit permission in NH, and weeds stop growing once you hit 150. the worst thing that happens if you stop playing NH is your villagers will comment on how long you've been gone next time you play

Chiyoko: thank you. I think I'll go ahead and take that break after all. Definitely hoping to pick it up again sometime because I have a really cool idea for my island's theme. Being creative takes a lot of work.
