a while back, i made a second account on my switch so that i could have a seperate house to store items in, be able to purchase 2 items from redd, get double the mail from mum, etc. it seemed like a really great idea at the time but now I'm afraid i messed up my game!
initially it let me add the second account without that account actually owning a copy of animal crossing. this must have changed with a recent uodate because now, i can't open the account or access the player menu at all, even thru the "call a resident" feature.
the player house is really just sitting there taking up space and i'd really like to get rid of it because now it's in the way of this cliff I'm trying to move forward.
is there any way i can remove the second players account without having to buy a seperate copy of animal crossing, or deleting my island all together? i don't exactly have a spare 80$ laying around and i've worked really hard on my island since launch and have all of my dream villagers so i'd REALLY hate to have to restart!
any help at all is much appreciated, i figured you guys were the best to ask!

I'm not sure if this will help, but is there any way your switch could've been deregistered as your primary switch? possibly either by owning two switches or logging into your nintendo account on a friend or family member's switch?

on your primary console, all users should be able to play any digital games you've purchased, but if you log in on any other consoles, only the account you bought the game with will be able to play it

If that's not the case and there's some odd problem with the profile or you can't figure out the primary switch thing you can also just use the primary account/first one you played with to delete the other house! It'd be a last resort since I imagine you'd rather keep the second villager if possible, but just open the game with your first account and hit the minus button on the start screen. That'll bring you to an options menu with Nook and you should have an option to delete the other villager in that menu somewhere!

This shouldn't be the case as with my switch, my brother is the one who bought ACNH and I didn't pay for it, yet I've been able to stay on his island without any issues at all. But if you want to delete the second account, here's how:
Head to main menu
Press the "-" button on your controller
Speak to Tom Nook
Delete Resident Registration
Select the resident you'd like to delete, in this case the placeholder resident you're using to have a second house

thanks for the help, that was exactly the problem! my console wasn't the primary switch anymore. i loaned my log in info to my brothers friend a while ago because he really wanted to play mario all-stars and i guess he never de-registered himself as the primary account holder and now he conveniently won't answer my messages lol.
gonna go try the minus menu thing now, thanks again!
