I haven't even finished watching the video yet I'm just very excited I have the cards but I was kinda done with nl by the time they got added into the game, but now I can use the items!
EDIT: oh I'm realizing this is probably the last of what we're getting for march since it comes out on the 18th. still somewhat fingers crossed there is more stuff added on the 18th for the one year, but I would think if there was they would've just made one big video

I was wondering if this was the anniversary update too. It seems early to announce an update though, so I feel like they might still announce more. I’m not counting on it though, honestly. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was it.
But I’m very excited to have the new items! I bought some knock-off Sanrio Amiibo cards before NH was released, and I’m so happy to be able to use them! I’m worried they’ll be hard to get at Target for retail price, so I’m glad I have a set already. But if I see them, I’ll definitely buy a real set!

Feel free to PM me about my listings!
^yeah I feel the same way. I think it could be possible that nintendo has an agreement with sanrio that they need to advertise the colab by a certain date and/or a certain amount and more might come later, but I'm not getting my hopes up
I just went through when all the update videos were posted and compared to when the updates went live.
the longest wait between announcement and update was the wave 1 summer update with an 8 day wait. the Mario update was an 8 day wait as well but that feels like an outlier bc it was included in a nintendo direct.
the Halloween update was a 5 day wait.
the bunny day update was a 4 day wait, but again that was part of a mini direct
every other update was announced 2 days before going live
the sanrio update on the other hand doesn't go live for another three weeks, so maybe there is hope we'll get a video on the 16th, but I don't want to get excited

If there are any Canadians on the board they are available for pre-order on Best Buy right now and coming soon to Amazon Canada. Best Buy Canada doesn’t ship outside Canada and they’re 1 per household.
I'm glad I picked these up first time around ... The odd thing is that the update drops on the 18th but the cards aren't released until the 26th !! I'll have a head start !!

I'm a bit newer to the game and I've never used the cards. Is this available for switch lite as well? Also will we need to purchase all cards to get the corresponding items? What happens if your island is already full? I've never used amiibo before >3<
Edit I just bought all the cards from someone etsy. They had good reviews and pretty cheap c:

are ya really gonna scroll by without sayin howdy??
^the cards will work on switch lite. there is an amiibo reader under the righthand joystick and you just tap the card on the stick when prompted to use them
this isn't 100% confirmed yet, but how it worked in NL was if someone had the cards, they could get extra items and give them to their friends who didn't have cards, but they could not make the animals move into their friend's towns without letting them borrow the cards themselves. if you had the animals in your town in boxes and ready to move and someone else came over to ask them to move into their town, the option to invite them would never come up. I imagine once the update is live, it won't be hard to find people online willing to help other people get the items. I know I already plan to help out a few friends
assuming it works the same, if you want all the villagers in your town, you will need all the cards (which luckily you get all six in one pack). how regular villager amiibos work is you need to scan them at the nooklink machine in resident services and invite them to your campsite. they will ask you to make them a DIY item and give it to them. you'll have to do that three times on three different days (doesn't need to be three days in a row), then after the third time you'll get the option to invite them into your town. if your town is full, they'll let you choose who you want to get rid of

I saw it in my JP switch news section, I would be excited if there were going to be any way to get the cards at a reasonable price. I imagine it'll be a Japanese run only and the west will have like a 1 day window opportunity to get them imported for the right price before they're not worth it anymore.
I wonder if they'll add the other villagers, like Epona, W Link, Inkwell, etc. Something tells me no lol
Oops I see it is in the US this time, for some reason I never saw the US video go by until literally now lol Still I have to wonder if they'll all evaporate immediately or what.
well I won't go into the details here, but there is an extremely cheap and easy way to make your own amiibos if you have the right kind of phone lots of people sell their own knock-offs online too, so if scalpers get to all of them, you're not TOTALLY out of luck

Oh yeah I knew about that way too. Which I don't care if people do that (like not attacking u for doing it the "illegitimate" way) but I actually kinda would like to have the cards themselves in addition to the ACNH stuff.
They say exclusively at Target, but I kind of have to wonder if they'll appear in those Sanrio/Hello Kitty shops. Idk where y'all at but I live in Hollywood, and there's this Hollywood & Highland mall thing here and they have a special Hello Kitty store. Other cities have them but it's not like the usual Sanrio stores. They have rarer, exclusive and more expensive things, and the one here has a lot of LA/Hollywood/California themed HK things. But this falls under that umbrella nonetheless, it's Hello Kitty!!!!
I totally get it, I think collecting the actual cards would be a lot more interesting than just doing it the "wrong" way, heck I've been beginning to buy animal crossing amiibo figures simply because I like the look of them and can use them in-game
