Sea Creatures

Thanks to the Summer Update Wave 1, you are now able to cool off in the sea surrounding your island and dive for sea creatures.

A wetsuit is required to dive to the bottom of the ocean to retrieve the creatures. There are 9 available wetsuits to choose from:

- Horizontal-Striped wetsuits in Black, Blue, Red, and Yellow
- Leaf-Print wetsuits in Light Blue, Green, Purple, and Yellow
- Nook Inc. wetsuit in Black and Green

The leaf-print and horizontal-striped wetsuits can be purchased from Nook's Cranny for 3,000 bells and can be reordered from the Nook Shopping catalog. Meanwhile, the Nook Inc. wet suit can be redeemed for 800 Nook Miles from the Nook Stop in Resident's Services.

Diving

To enter the water, you can press A near the beach, dock, cliffs, and airport pier. Alternatively, you can perform a running jump to somersault into plunge into the water by running and pressing A just before the edge.

When swimming in the sea, sea creatures appear as shadows on the seafloor which emit bubbles. The larger the sea creature, the more bubbles they produce.

You can then press Y to dive underwater for a few seconds in order to catch the creatures. To do this you need to align your character over the shadow and your character will catch the creature automatically - be warned, the shadows sometimes move so you'll have to be quick to catch the creature.

When catching a new species, for the first time, your player will say "Whoa. This is..." as opposed to "Yes!" when catching a bug/fish.

The table below shows each sea creature, their availability, shadow size, speed, and selling price to Nook's Cranny.

Similar to bugs and fish, availability and variations depending on the time of year and hemisphere of your island. Any caught creatures can also be donated to Blathers and displayed in the Museum.

Tips!

- To catch the speedy swimmers, we would recommend pressing Y when you are directly above the shadow, then spamming A as quickly as possible to keep up with the creature.

- Pearls are not officially recognized as a sea creature and do not appear in your Critterpedia, nor can they be donated to the Museum.

- ***If you are hosting other players on your island and have a fenced route/area, Please note that players are able to dive off of the airport pier if wearing a wetsuit to evade restricted zones, so please be careful.
