I am about to pull my hair out looking for these fish. I am trying to find a Tuna, Blue Marlin, barreleye, and golden trout. I have gone through so much bait, so there is 3 million bells spent down the drain.
I used like 60 bait in the cliff side river looking if the golden trout, and probably 30 fishing by the pier.
Would I have better luck with the ocean fish at a mystery island?
I don't know if you'd necessarily have better luck on a mystery tour island. if you got lucky enough to land on big fish island (the river forms a circle with a tiny waterfall in the top right corner and exits into the ocean on the left), you'd probably have an easy time finding the tuna and blue marlin fishing off the dock, though you'd also pull up a ton of sea bass as well
possibly a stupid question, but are you looking at the right times?
barreleye is tiny (horse mackerel size) and can be found all year 9pm-4am
Tuna is huge, and can be found all day November-April (northern hemisphere)
Blue Marlin is huge, and can be found all day July-September and November-April (northern hemisphere)
the golden trout is medium sized and can be found March-May (northern hemisphere) 4pm-9am

I have 5 players and found mystery island is the fastest way to get pier and other rare fish with no bait.
In August I started a new player and while bug hunting on mystery islands she found the blue marlin, 2 mahi mahi and the giant trevally. Ten days in she has completed all her bugs, diving and fish with no bait available.
Two 2nd players went to a mystery island in August in ten minutes they had a moral eel and the new river fish.
For bug hunting I was able to find rare bugs/fish while swimming along the shore. Just had to be careful getting out of the water.
Were you ever able to find a golden trout? That's the last thing I need to find for September and I am STRUGGLING to get it on my island, I'm fishing at the right time (after 5 pm) but I've just had absolutely no luck
Pickle chin ahh boi egg head like collard greens head ahh boi
If you wanna add me just send an FCR! I'll always respond eventually
3rd line stuff...uhh...
Player 3 was looking for a Char and found 3 golden trout. Switched to daytime fishing and finally caught the Char. In September the Char is all day. Most online guides list the Char catch time 4pm to 9 am for September. Those guides are wrong.
I was so thrilled to finally catch my Char this month! I had tried so hard for so long, and got really lucky that the first fish I caught in the upper (river) pond was it! I was thinking that I would have to use bait to catch it, and had bait waiting up there but didn't need it after all!
