I didn't even know this was possible, but it happened in my town. I just signed into the game to go get my Saturday night K.K. song and noticed that my Nookington's is GONE. It's a Nookway now. What the bleep happened? Can anyone explain?
Ok, nevermind. Apparently it was a stupid "survey" Nook had asked me to go through and my answers did it. There's literally no reason to downgrade to a lower store, but oh well. I HATE how this stuff comes with no warning in advance.
i remember the exact same thing happened in my game years ago, and my siblings and i were all so frustrated. i don't get why the game doesn't specifically let you know what the results of nook's survey would be.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
But good luck with that if life doesn't give you sugar or water.
Yeah it was Nintendo's early attempt to give the player influence, like New Leaf's ordinances, only in City Folk it's delegated strictly to Nook's shop. It'll let you pick whether you want variety (Nookington's), hours (Nook'N'Go), or a balance (Nookway). In another month, he'll ask again, and you can just pick variety and get Nookington's back.
It would've been nice if they just broke the third wall and offered to let you downgrade the store as you pleased, but that sort of stuff wasn't done until NL/NH -- the earlier games required you to read between the lines a lot more to figure out what was actually being asked of you.
