well, the time has come when i am no longer satisfied with my island layout lol. does anyone have any tips on what they do when they change up their island? do you chop down all trees? or do you plant them in a specific area? same with flowers? i dont want to lose all of my things but i also would like to change a lot about my island!

I restarted a month or so ago for the same reason and really my advice is just - don’t rush to fill up your island. So many events we don’t know about yet. I’m just doing up tiny bits until I like them and then waiting to see for the rest.

for redecorating I'd say keep all your fruit from your trees, but chop down or sell them all. you can get endless saplings at the nookling store so there's no need to hold onto them. when I did my first big makeover of my island I tried to keep as many trees as I could and honestly it was way more of a hassle than it was worth (tho I probably would've been less hesitant if I had waited until after the cherry blossoms )

for flowers, stock up on seeds for any flowers that are not native to your island and move any hybrids you have out of the way, but sell any non-hybrids that you have because those are easily replaced.

I'd also say it's a good idea to have a stockpile of different types of bush starts on hand as well. I did most of my island decorating before we had bushes so I didn't leave much room for them, but if I ever start again I'm going to make sure I have a ton of each, especially the ones that won't be in season for a long time

wow these are all awesome tips!! i'm definitely committing these to memory (or screenshotting to save for later... lol)

at the beginning, i wasn't too pressured to have a beautiful island because no one else did! now i kind of want something spectacular as i'm starting to get more and more of my favorite villagers. i want a pretty layout so i can see them doing cute and fun things like performing or sitting around
