Hi all,

I have a question that is bugging me for some days:

I own a Switch, that Switch has 4 user accounts, me, my son, my daughter, my wife.

Of course my wife and daugther play Animal Crossing, my daughter is the main owner/user of the island, BUT...me, my son and my wife all have characters on that island and play together...so far so good.

Now my wife bought a new Switch, we know that we cannot transfer Animal Crossing savegames from one Switch to another so my wife suggested that I could have the new Switch and she would keep on using my old Switch. Sounds great, right?

But what will happen if I will transfer all of my savegames to a new Switch and so will my son?
-Will it delete my character from the island?
-Will it delete the whole savegame, because we share the island (having a house etc.)?
-Can my daughter transfer her account, without the Animal Crossing savegame, or will it delete her island?

I hope someone can help me solve these questions, thanks!!!

One of the simple questions: Will it delete my character from the island? You need to delete your character first, before removing your profile from the switch.

I think you can do a system transfer and choose what to transfer.

I think since the original save data was on a different profile, you should be good to do a full system transfer of your profile. Since it is a physical copy and you are not the island rep, it definitely makes your life easier!

I think it is possible to remove all the other save data, and transfer those to a new Switch, leaving the Animal Crossing save data intact on the old one.

you can have user profiles on multiple switch consoles using the same nintendo account. because you're not the island rep, you should be able to do a full user transfer of your account to your new console without affecting the town, and if you'd like you can also keep your user profile on the old console as well so you will still be able to play in her town -- or you could delete your player, up to you. if you choose to delete a player, make sure you delete the player before you delete the user account.

the safest way to go about it, especially if you want to keep your player character, would be to log into your nintendo account on the new switch console, set that console as your primary console, then manually redownload each game you care about either by inserting the cartridge and downloading your saves, or searching the game in the eshop for your digital purchases. I'm not sure if doing a full user transfer would delete your profile from the old switch, and I'm not sure if remaking your profile will allow you access your player character again, so it's safer to just do it manually. it doesn't take that much longer anyway

the only person who might run into some trouble is your daughter. because she is the town rep, her profile is permanently tied to the savefile and the savefile is permanently tied to the console. delete her player and you lose the town. everyone else should be able to transfer consoles and delete players with no issue
