I've heard conflicting information regarding villagers moving out with time travel. Can villagers move away without asking first? If I were to make the multi-month leap to the Fall season, could someone be gone when I got there? What about backwards time travel? Can you lose someone then?

At first I heard that villagers absolutely cannot move without your permission in this game, but now I'm hearing that you can lose villagers to time travel. Any info would be super appreciated!

backwards time travel, no matter how far back you go, only ever counts as one day forward for some things, or no days passing for other things. backwards TT will rot your turnips, but other than that nothing bad happens

Basically what Chiyoko said. The information of villager move out mechanics has been datamined. Any information that deviates from that are people who may not be aware of the data mining and are still running off of rumours. It will take time before everyone realizes that .
