Hey! So I had Cherry as my starter villager which means she doesn’t have her original house interior (it’s awful). I’m going to see if I can gift all her original furniture to see if she puts it out however, will they change their wallpaper/flooring?

My fingers are crossed because her house is the total opposite of her personality

Unfortunately no... as far as people have tried no one has gotten a villager to change the wallpaper/flooring, just some of the furniture in their house

If the interior bothers you and you have someone you trust you can try giving Cherry to them then inviting her back as she'll still remember you and it'll reset her house, but that's the only way I know of to get the starter villagers to really change their house interior!

However, if you can get someone to take her and then return her to you, you will have lost your friendship with her. This happened to a streamer who did that because he hated Muffy's starter house. She came back in a better house and nicer furniture, but he will have to work on the friendship level all over again.

Bbykat51 I don't think that's the case? I've heard of many people successfully pull it off where they give the starer villager to a friend and invite them back and they not only remember the player and have their upgraded house, but also retain their friendship level! Someone was even able to get the villagers photo three days after they moved back so they definitely kept the same friendship level

Hmm, I noticed that Muffy wasn't as friendly as she was and reverted to her default catchphrase. Maybe it just has to take time before she asks for a new catchphrase? I just assumed the friendship was lost or downgraded.
