I was also considering posting a thread here about this development. I don't understand why archiving needs to be turned back on. Does the increased number of threads create strain on ACC's servers or something? I don't think that we should be limiting access to threads unless there's a good reason for doing so.
Yeah, I also back up the others who have commented before. I have a few old PT's that don't get posted in that often, but I still like to use/keep around. Unless it puts a strain on the server as 707penguin eluded to, I don't see any justification for doing it. I'm all for it being used for the public boards given how busier the site is presently, however it should be kept of for private threads if possible, in my opinion.
Just posting here to share that we are listening and have heard yours and others' concerns regarding resuming thread archiving. We are currently evaluating making some tweaks to the original plan for resumed thread archival that was outlined in the most recent announcement.
