So, a newer player was able to come to my island on NH, but I keep getting a connection error code when I try to go to theirs. I had this happen once before with a newer player...but I don't get it.

Both times, they were able to visit me, but not reverse. I've been all over god's green earth between the times and have had no issues.

What's the connection problem? We tried both via dodo code and searching for friends, and we made sure it was Online and not Local...

Typically when it comes to P2P games, NAT type is very important. If you go into your Switch settings and configure networks, there should be a connection test option. It will tell you your NAT type. A or B is considered a good NAT type, so you shouldn't have issues. C through F is not good, and you'll have to do some edits to your router. Have your friends who you can't connect with run a connection test, and ask for their NAT type, too.

If your NAT type is C or below, let me know and I can help you further. You'll also need to be able to access your router's settings. If you aren't sure how to do that, try to find someone who knows how.

Hello!

I have a problem that I couldn`t fix on my own. I can visit anyone`s island, but no one can visit mine because of 2618-0513 connection error. I`ve tried all the solutions I could find:
- reset router;
- change DNS from automatic to manual *Friend Code Detected*.0008 and 4.4.4.8;
- enable UPnP in router settings;
- add Switch IP to DMZ in router settings.

My Internet Connection test shows NAT type B, download speed 33.9 Mbps, upload speed 14.0 Mbps, so theres no problem in NAT or speed.

I have this problem for the past few months since I moved to another city. Everything was okay until then.

I don`t have a Nintendo Support in my country(Ukraine) so I can`t contact them.

Please help me if you know some other solutions to this problem. I`m a bit desparate.

Ideally you want to aim for NAT type A. Interesting that you're not achieving that since you added your Switch IP to DMZ.

You may have mistyped it in your post, but your DNS addresses are likely incorrect. Google's DNS are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I'm not sure if the Switch will even let you input invalid ones, though.

Yeah, i did mistype the DNS addresses in the previous message, but they are correct on my switch (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)
I don`t know why adding Switch IP to DMZ didn`t change my NAT from B to A, but it still should work okay with B...

I tried connecting to mobile internet via hotspot, it works okay, people can come to my island! So the problem is in my router or provider... I just don`t know what else I can try to fix this

Do you know any additional solutions for my problem?

It seems like you've already done what you can. Have you tried setting the MTU value on your Switch to 1500? If your Switch is close to your router, you could also try getting a USB to ethernet adapter and see if that helps. Inconvenient, but it does help with stability. (I use one) They are fairly inexpensive and is also nice to have on hand.

In the end, I would recommend looking at getting a better router if all else fails.
