Maybe it's just me, but it feels like the on-screen in-game keyboard feels extremely off. It just feels too stiff. Anyone Else feel like this?

This is a systemwide issue, not an Animal Crossing: New Horizons one.

Go to System Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Touch Screen Sensitivity on your Switch and change the setting from "Standard" to "Stylus". Stylus really ought to be the default, as it just plain works better.

I agree! I use the Nintendo Switch Online app on my phone since it has a keyboard that you can use in game. Sucks that I'm needing to use two screens, but it's faster overall imo.

"THANKS!!"
Glad to help!

I can understand why the original default was what it was back in 2017 (since back then, they probably figured that people wouldn't want to accidentally trigger touch inputs in handheld mode), but when they introduced this setting a couple of system-updates ago, it really should've been changed. I've heard of folks who didn't know that the Switch has a touch-screen because of how insensitive the default setting is!

In CF and now NH, I use a wireless keyboard. I like it SO MUCH more!

Wireless keyboard is waaaaay better. Reminds me more of CF.

Mine is actually a usb keyboard (from my CF days so it’s going strong)neigh a wide, so it only works when I’m hooked up to the tv, but it means you’re not looking at two screens.

Although most of the time I use my phone or use the voice chat. The switch keyboard is... not good

Peanutprimrose - With a suitable adapter, you can use USB keyboards in handheld-mode, too - though that's a bit more convoluted than simply changing the Switch's touch-screen sensitivity, admittedly!

I bought this one and I love it. The usb reviever is very discrete and the keyboard itself has an on/off switch that (maybe) saves battery (AA btw).

PennyGwin - I didn’t know that! I’ll definitely look into it.

Although with handheld mode (I assume, I could probably do both one handed badly... anyone else?) it still requires putting down the handheld and using something else to type, in which case I’d rather use my phone. On the tv I can still be holding the controllers (albeit clumsily) and typing (index finger style) which means if I wanna say something while the party is walking I don’t have to stop and subsequently get lost

At least that’s my experience. Perhaps I’m overthinking it
