I got my upstairs room built a few days ago, and it's the only room that I never had a plan for when I was starting out. So, I temporarily put up a couple of my Saharah walls/floors - the stormy-night wall and the cloud floor - just so that I could go and sell the default ones for a few extra Bells, since I don't need extras of those. As I left to do my rounds, I found a bottle-note which contained a DIY recipe for iron armour, and with this unexpected inspiration I immediately decided to make a fairytale-inspired diorama depicting a showdown between a knight and a monster - using the monster statue from the Nook Stop terminal as a key piece. My native kaiju are blue (not the colour I had in mind for this, since electric-blue monsters aren't something that I associate with fairytale dragons) and I already have one out on my coastline, however, so I exchanged five native black streetlamps with a friend who wanted some in that colour, for a brown monster statue (five streetlamps cost the same in Nook Miles as one monster statue), and after that I also ended up finding the plans for the matching headgear to go with the armour, too. And so, here's the current state of the diorama, with the aforementioned wall and floor, cold lighting, a suit of armour representing a knight, the monster statue representing the obvious, a couple of frog costumes representing his minions, and a pink magical dress to represent a princess. Furniture-wise, there's so far only an hourglass, to represent the urgency of the situation, but I'll be keeping an eye out for other pieces that might add more to the "story" or the atmosphere. I've never done anything like this with a room before, and I'm already excited to see where it will lead. Is anyone else using any rooms for little story dioramas like this?
