Hey guys. I wanted to see if any of you are having this trouble as my friend is looking to adopt a villager from my island and I don't want to encounter this problem. I saw a post on the reddit adoption board today that said that people are having another adoption glitch. When they go to ask a villager to move in, they are able to ask them multiple times to move in, and when the villager moves in, they are in their house unpacking boxes for a short time and then when they return to the house the villager is gone and there's a sign on the door that says "I've moved out!" and then the plot is glitched. Some people have reported that they ask one villager to move in and instead another villager either from a friend's town or from the campsite moves in and out with this same problem. This seems to be happening with both natural and amiibo move-outs. There's probably about 20 people reporting the problem, but no one seems to know the cause and I wasn't sure if anyone here had encountered it and if there seems to be a pattern as to why it's happening.

Yeah. It's never a good thing to see a glitch seemingly caused by a patch fixing a similar glitch. I am not impressed.

Yeah honestly I know a lot of people were complaining because they had pushed it out to March but I feel like they should have just waited longer and put out a finished game. This whole "push out a half complete, really buggy game and then patch it later" thing is really not working out.

I used 30 nmt on islands cause I had an empty plot. Got one of dreamies Tangy. She's moved in but not really though. Her house is always closed and says "I've moved out"

I'm so annoyed right now but there is literally nothing I can do about it.

Oh god Tangy. She is my all time fave. That sucks Hoping they patch this soon

Just a quick update, I have been doing a lot of random time travel. I am.now in October and tangy my glitched villager has moved out.

I can’t comment about this problem, but I wanted to segue with a question. If you adopt a villager from a friend’s island, but your own island is full, do you get the option to move someone out to make room for the adoptee?

No you can't force someone out like that. The only way you can force someone out is from campsite or via amiibo

hey guys! i wanted to post an update to this with everything i'd heard since I saw someone link this thread in another thread. the common theme seems to be that these villagers are coming from someone's void. meaning, someone you know (or someone you don't know but are just visiting) has just moved out a villager but no one adopted them. they go to the game's void (meaning they still exist in the save data but do not have a space on the island) for a period of time of which i am unsure (some people have said 4 days, but i'm not positive). this means that when you visit this person's island, if you have an open plot, there is a chance that you will get this villager as it still exists in the person's "void". so when you go to adopt a villager, a voided villager can interrupt this adoption, or the adopted villager themself can glitch. as a word of caution, if you are going to someone's town who has voided a villager (and you have an open plot), either wait some time, or ask them to TT a week or so into the future and back to clear out the void. if you are going to adopt someone, after you ask them to move in, speak to them again. if they talk about how excited they are to move into your island, go home, TT 2 days into the future, and complete the move in. if you are able to prompt them to move in a second time, quit/exit immediately without saving and forfeit the trade. you will lose whatever you have traded unless the person is nice enough to give some of it back, but you will not end up with a glitched plot. if you happen to get a glitched plot, time travel seems to be the only solution at this point and you, sadly, cannot recover the villager.

^ it's safest not to do any online play unless you have 10 villagers all fully moved in.
