We had looked forward to a new AC for years, and after a week, we are already bored. The graphics are improved, but the game just seems to go so slowly. And, I'm completely frustrated by the same boring islands you visit with Nook Miles--same materials, same fruits, and same fish. What is the point?? I'm about to return to Stardew Valley. This game is soooo slow.
I agree to some extent. It is missing a lot of things I would have loved to see. I hope they patch some stuff in. I want to be able to make constellations again.
The guy who said that "the rest of us are enjoying it" is the minority, because most people are disappointed with it (just look at the audience reviews on Metacritic). It's a major letdown, especially compared to how great New Leaf was.
You're continuing on with this misleading information? Yes it's getting 1 star bombed on Metacritic but most of those negative reviews are because people are upset with the "1 island per Switch" issue. So it's weighed down because of that and if we could filter out those reviews (it's something that would not bother single players in the slightest) it would carry a significantly higher average.
You're continuing on with this misleading information?
What is misleading? There are alot of people who don't like it. Dude how much more are you gonna brown nose the developers? *content removed* I loved Star Fox Assault, yet alot of people hated it. I sure didn't get on Star Fox forums and find the people who hated it and try to convince myself that the game was good. If it was as great as you are making it out to be, why do you have to prove anything? *content removed*
What is misleading? There are alot of people who don't like it. Dude how much more are you gonna brown nose the developers? Or are you just butthurt because the game is bad? Get a life. If you enjoy, why aren't you playing right now and care that people don't? I loved Star Fox Assault, yet alot of people hated it. I sure didn't get on Star Fox forums and find the people who hated it and try to convince myself that the game was good. If it was as great as you are making it out to be, why do you have to prove anything? Who cares? Stop being butthurt, and go play the game you claim to adore
Where did I say it was great and that I adored it? I am just pointing out you are being misleading by referencing a review site that lets anyone come in and drop it a one star review because of something that they weren't aware of but something that wouldn't affect single players in the slightest.

There are thousands of negative reviews for the game by the audience there. Sure, the single island is the cause for it, but it causes people to dislike the game, which is what I said. Nothing misleading. The only misleading thing here is your lack of understanding what I said. It doesn't matter the reason, people aren't happy with the game. Do you understand or need me to copy the first thing I said?
That right there is a misleading comment. You are falsely equivocating people that are upset about the inner workings of this game with family players getting on to Metacritic and giving it a one star review because it's not a family game.
Not only that, but you have your personal grievances with this game and continuously use Metacritic to back up your feeling of disappointment when those reviews don't even align with your complaints. They're not complaining about the game itself like you are, they're complaining that all their family members can't have their own save file. So don't use that as evidence people are disappointed with this "incomplete game", as you put it. It's misleading.
Ummmm. No it's not. People dislike the game for different reasons, and all perfectly fine. What makes me dislike it is different from what another person may feel. Of the 1200 or however many people who gave it bad scores, I'm sure there are some who just did it to add negativity. To those, then yes, I have a problem. But I gaurentee you that, of the 1200, there are plenty of people there who have reason to hate it. Mine is not the one Island per switch, but that is reason enough to give it a horrible score if you live in a household where you and your family share a switch. Nintendo did choose to go with that route to try to rip people off into making everyone in the house buy a Switch, which is just adding to Nintendo slowly becoming the most money hungry company out there. And yes, regardless of how much you disagree, it's more than enough reason to slam the game. *content removed*
Metacritic's review tanked within 48 hours of release which makes no sense and most of those reviews are about the single island limitation which was known for months. Do you really give a game a 0 for such a limitation? Not that I care much about reviews.
I understand the disappointment with the content in comparison to New Leaf. They will update the game though so I'm not worried.

They say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.
3 Hours behind ACC time.

I've heard that before. Anyone reading this who is on the fence about buying this game due to the lack of content, don't get it hoping Nintendo will update it. I did that with Luigi's Mansion 3, because everyone assured me they would patch it to include and inverted controls option. Now, we are what, 6 months later, and no update. Don't believe it. I believe that game will be updated, but minimally. When New Leaf came out, no one was asking for more content. Why? Because it was released complete. Nintendo isn't Microsoft. The game isn't going to get a drastic overhaul like Sea of Thieves or Halo MCC did, making it so much better in a year. And even IF this content was to come, this is Nintendo we are talking about, who updates their Nintendo Online with games slower than Christmas. The game as is right now won't be updated but very minimally from here on out, and anyone else who hasn't bought the game because of it should hold off until otherwise.
Oh, my. Did not mean to start a squabble here, I promise. I've realized that when I get tired and cranky, I behave like a toddler having a meltdown! Oops!
I do like the game, but I feel it is a bit slow in terms of progress. When I said "we had looked forward to the game" I was referring to me and my family. All of us had played the City Folk game for years, and were eagerly anticipating the new game. My husband pointed out that NH is very similar to City Folk--it takes a lot of playing to advance. We had been playing Stardew Valley recently, where the days take place quickly (about 30-45 minutes per day). So, the switch back to real time is taking some time to get used to.
The real frustration I have with the game is they Mystery Island tours not being any different than what you can do on your own island. Why go to all the trouble of earning Nook miles and then have the same exact stuff that you see on your own island? Where is the fun in that? I am hoping that a key to getting to the different island is found soon.
I don't remember AC ever being a fast-paced game, and progressing a little bit everyday and waiting for things to slowly unlock is part of the fun, in my opinion.
That being said, I do feel like there is much more to do than in previous games, which can keep me busy for hours. Crafting, gathering resources, decorating your whole island, etc.
Also, the game has not even been out for 2 weeks yet, and Nintendo told us there would be updates for events and such. If you're not time traveling, there is no way you've already finished everything, and by the time you get there the game will be updated with new content.
I think it is still early to tell if the game is lacking content as we haven't seen all of it yet.
Edit: I agree with your point on the mystery island and I regret 90% of my trips as most of the time I get an island with the same resources as mine. However, there are a few different islands (tarantula island, money rock Island, bamboo, etc) that are worth it and it feels rewarding when you get them.
Yeah, I'm disappointed too tbh. There's too many annoying things and it feels so rushed out the door.
one save game per switch no cloud saves as far as I know (both of these are major downsides. It's 2020. Nintendo needs to get out of the past already)
can't split items stacks can't bulk craft tools break too quickly (and don't get me started on golden tools. they aren't even worth crafting. not worth wasting gold nuggets on.) no paintings, gracy, etc only 5 catalog items can be bought a day
"mystery" islands are boring. it's the same island with slightly different layout every time lol. the chance of seeing anything else is slim to none.
meanwhile in ac new leaf... definitely feels a like a downgrade and was not worth the price.
no worries crazymama. you didn't start a squabble. people just need to stop taking any slight negatives said about the games they play as personal attacks. I've had a bit of of fun, but that doesn't change that I still think the game is a downgrade and not worth the price I payed for it.
In regards to how accurate Metacritic is in showing the popularity of the game overall, I'm going to theorize that the -actual minority- is made up of people that are so mad about how saves and town sharing works that theyre willing to review bomb the game over it.
It just seems like most players are just quietly playing the game, not posting online or getting into debates about it.
In new leaf you could only order 3 items from a catalog per day. I do sincerely hope paintings are added soon, as the museum has a whole upstairs area not used for anything.
The game definitely starts out much slower than it's predecessors. That said, it does pick up some and once the first few upgrades and additional tools are obtained you are able to do a lot more... now that we are in our third week of playing I am finding there is plenty to keep me occupied through my day. I'm super excited for the first event that is coming up too!
I also have to agree about the negative reviews, to me they all mostly seem to be people upset about the one island per switch deal and not actual reviews on the game play itself... It makes me think they are actually very happy with the game play otherwise they wouldn't be so incredibly heated about having to share an island!

"Do you remember mama, when I knocked upon your door?"
Since I've been loving you - (the BEST Zeppelin song EVER!)
The game isn't bad, but there are some things I'm pretty disappointed in, especially the surprising removals of content. Swimming, paintings, The Roost, Club LOL, gyroids, Tortimer Island, the island tours, numerous NPC's, and it seems like a lot of furniture has been cut. I'm really hoping some of these things make it back in through updates, but as of right now, New Leaf is certainly the better game.

Do you have any idea how that made me feel inside?
