I have seen on the internet and sites like acpatterns.com the users have made very clear designs out of photos and images but if i try to make my own they alwyas come out super blurry. I wonder if they edit the photos or images in anyway before converting them? shrinking the photos? enlarging them? using software?

if you manually shrink and edit the photos in a more advanced program like photoshop, you'll end up with better results since photoshop's algorithms are more advanced that the ones on those sites. you can also boost the contrast a bit to make the image look sharper
