I play mostly handheld on Switch in general, so Animal Crossing has been played mostly handheld too!

Mostly docked.  Play handheld on my 2nd Switch when I visit my main island.

For those of you who play docked: What kind of controller do you use? My boyfriend bought a pro controller today for it (and other games) and I', sorta considering getting one for myself but idk if i should just stick with the joycons

(I've also been wanting a pro controller for splatoon tbh)

^I bought a pro controller bc it was splatoon themed and I wanted it, but I find if I'm playing anything that doesn't need my complete focus like AC or pokemon I hate using it because I have to keep my hands close together. I much prefer the joycons because I can sit in whatever weird position I want. it's good for games like smash or splatoon though.

Currently handheld.  I do have access to a nice TV but our household has too many people to be able to relax and play videogames on it.

I usually play docked but I do play handheld when I'm away from the TV.

i'm surprised so many people actually prefer handheld, my switch is always docked unless i take it somewhere (so nowadays it's always docked lol). i have a pro controller which is wayyy more comfortable than joycons so that might be another reason

Docked, I like the big screen. I only use handheld when I need to type a letter or something, since it's a pain to type without the touchscreen.

Feline_Frenzy - You can plug a USB keyboard into the Switch dock (or, if you have the right adapter, into the Switch itself in handheld-mode/tabletop-mode), which is probably the better option if you don't want to undock.

This is supported systemwide by pretty much any software that offers an on-screen keyboard - games that require you to enter a name for leaderboards, the eShop, and ACNH, just to name a few.

I love this controller for the switch! You can do any color scheme and it's so comfortable to hold for many hours. Way better than the joy cons.

Docked. I like my TV, surround sound, and recliner with the pro controller.

I like it better docked! I'd rather play on a big screen than handheld.

I prefer it docked so most of the time I play it docked. But I do play handheld when I go to bed and when I wake up.

I own a Switch Lite, so handheld is my only option.

I love playing docked, but I’ve been forced to play mostly handheld up to now. Hubby doesn’t like sharing the tv

if i was able to set up a dock at work i would be 100% docked at all times. however i cannot therefore im 50/50 docked while at home handheld at work

I prefer to use the pro controller.  Using the joycons for Let's Go wasn't fun.
With Pokemon Sword and Shield you don't need to hold the controllers when hunting.  I was holding it before I found out Top Left buttons and A button are the same.

Docked 100%. But it's definitely awesome to be able to go portable on a whim. Even then, I just use the kick stand and play from the screen.

Considering 99% of my day is inside due to the quarantine, I keep it docked 99% of the time. Once in a while I take it downstairs but I prefer my television and not running into battery life issues.

Docked with pro controller. Lot easier to catch bugs and fish with a real controller. Joycons just don't cut it. Will use handheld in rare occasions but still using the pro controller.

Ok, I was intending to play docked for the majority of my time (good memories from the GC version), BUT, my daughter has taken the T.V. over since she's off school.
I assumed, incorrectly, that she would prefer handheld (she has a Lite), but after I was lucky enough to get a limited AC Switch from Amazon, on release day, she mainly plays on our T.V.
I am relegated to playing on my Switch in handheld mode (I purchased a case that has grips at the joycons).

I much prefer handheld for Animal Crossing. Mostly because I’m lazy and I like to curl up in bed and play. I actually just realized I haven’t played docked once since NH came out
