There is space for 80 bugs and 80 fish in the ‘encyclopaedia’ section of your new Nook phone. I managed to catch a Tarantula just now on my first time playing and that’s in March so the dates/times when certain bugs/fish are available seem to have changed. When you shake trees you get branches which you need for crafting basic tools and they seemed to reset every time I entered a tent so are a limitless source I think. When I was shaking trees I was chased and stung by a wasp rather than bees so that’s a new bug (although I think this was something some people knew before release anyway). The net and rod both require 5 branches each to craft, the axe is 1 stone and 5 branches and can be used on rocks to get clay/iron/stone and trees to get wood/hardwood/softwood (all are crafting materials), and also the money rock can be collected from with the axe. The rocks produce 7 items each day and the trees 3, I believe it’s random what type of material you get from them each time you hit them. There is also a new flower type wildflower I bought 5 white ones from Timmy.
I have so much more already that I can post but I’ll leave it at that for now. I am obsessed with bug catching (fishing too but bugs more) and I’m sure I’m not the only one so will be posting updates on those as and when I get more information. So far I have caught the moth, pill bug and tarantula and black bass, horse mackerel, dace, sea butterfly, dab, crucian carp. Oh and you only need to give Tom Nook 5 bugs or fish before he’ll give you the stuff to place where you want the museum to go so unlocks pretty quickly.

Trees can be shaken for seemingly unlimited sticks (as long as there is space around them) so you can always make tools. In autumn, acorns also fall from the trees!
Nook Miles + is only unlocked once you pay off your first loan with Nook Miles. This also unlocks the purchases you can make with Nook Miles, though some are locked until you agree to build a house, including the tool ring, the pocket expansion, hair colours, etc.
First pocket expansion costs 5000 points. Nook Miles ticket 2000 points. Custom Pro Editor 800 points Tool Ring (?? cannot remember cost) Pretty Good Tools Recipes cost 3000 points.
You can give five bugs or fish to Tom Nook (as bl0nde_queen said), who sends them all to Blathers, before Blathers agrees to come here and you place the tent. Each time you give Tom a creature he gives you an item (such as flower seeds or recipes). After that you just have to save your creatures til Blathers comes - though they can be stacked one on top of another, to save a little space.
Catching trash leads to you imagining new recipes you can make with that trash!
Balloons give a variety of items - DIY recipes, wigs, clothes, furniture, and crafting resources.
Flimsy axe can't cut down trees, but the standard axe you make using a flimsy axe and an iron ore cuts a tree down in 3 swings, meaning you can only safely harvest 2 wood per tree with a standard axe
You can connect your ACPC and ACNH accounts to your Nintendo account to get 50 LTs on PC and some promo items in the Nook Shop on NH...haven't managed to be able to see what they are yet, wondering if I need to complete more tasks for them to appear.
You can give Nook creatures you catch to send to Blathers. Up to 5. This unlocked the flimsy axe recipe, flowers, the flimsy watering can recipe, and after you reach 5 you'll choose the location for Blathers' tent. Once Blathers shows up one day later, he'll teach you the recipes for the shovel and the vaulting pole. He asks that you find fossils for him. You need to give Blathers a total of 15 fish, bugs, and/or fossils to start the museum up on your island. Once you turn in the 15 items though Blathers will not take any more donations, but will assess fossils
Found a letter in a Bottle with a Additional DIY Card for a "Wooden Table mirror" the Mirror Allows you to change your characters looks.
Also seen Balloons floating around with gifts attached to them, which you need the Slingshot to shoot down, the DIY card for the Slingshot can be Bought from Timmy in the Resident Services Building.
Also Flimsy Axes Breaks after 40 uses. Stone Axes Breaks after 100 uses, and also can't cut down trees.
CutieLucy if you turn your flimsy axe into the stone axe rather than regular axe it doesn't chop down the trees so you can still get 3 bits of wood per tree, with no worry about the tree being chopped down.
The balloons have been very frequent in my town, much more than in previous games, I have also managed to get bells in some of the gifts they carry, 10,000 in a couple.
New Bug Alert: the Paper Kite Butterfly, is roughly the same size as the Tiger Butterfly but white and sells for 1,000 bells.
I caught a popeyed goldfish in one of my ponds rather than the river.
When you buy flowers from Timmy you can buy 1 on its own or 5 together and they don't seem to sell out.

So far this is the information I have on prices: Manila Clam= 100 Dab= 300 Olive Flounder= 800 Tiger Butterfly= 240 Bluegill=180 Sea Bass= 400 Horse Mackerel= 150 Crucian Carp= 160 Red Snapper= 3000 Barred Knife-jaw= 5000 Yellow Perch= 300 Paper Kite Butterfly= 1000 Loach= 400 Wasp= 2500
Manila clam can be turned into bait which makes a fish appear in the water instantly. This could be useful for fishing tournaments. You should stock up.
It is raining in my island all day. I think maybe this brings up lots of Manila clams? I am not sure, but I have a whole lot of them on my island right now.

...looking for other grown up gamers, please...
If you are in need of a tool that is currently unavailable to you, you can redeem 2000 Nook miles for a Nook Miles Ticket...and then Wilbur will sell you the flimsy tools for 100 miles a piece once at the deserted island.
Other players may also have the tools for sale via Timmy.

I found a new bug called the man-faced stink bug. Caught from Mar-Oct, and (in March) active between 7 pm and 8 am. Caught on top of flowers. It sells for 1000 bells.
Also looks like bells picked up from the ground (eg. from shaking trees) automatically add to your wallet, but bells dug up (from the glowing spot) do not; they go into the inventory. I guess this was already assumed, but burying a bag of bells in the glowing spot does plant a tree, like in GC.
1: Progress far enough in the game to be able to redeem Nook Miles for items at the Nook Stop terminal.
2: Save and exit Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
3: Open the Nintendo eShop and navigate to the "Nintendo Switch Online" heading in the sidebar at the left.
4: You will see a download under the "Content for Members Only" heading that will make the Nook Inc. silk rug item available in-game. Redeem this item and wait for it to download.
5: When the download is complete, load Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and the Nook Inc. silk rug will be available for 600 Nook Miles from the Nook Stop terminal.
I found Wisp on both my islands. When you talk to him, you scare the spirit out of him. 5 pieces, in fact. You'll find them floating around, and you'll need a net to catch them. When you return them to him, he'll give you a random gift. The first time, he said furniture, the second time flooring. Both times he asked if I wanted something new or expensive. For furniture I said new, got a hammock, which I like because deserted island. For flooring I said expensive and got a brown floral flooring (pretty ugly, only sells for 380). I do wonder if I annoyed him because for flooring I refused to return the pieces of his spirit until he just kept looping dialogue.
That automated Nook shopping kiosk had a Nintendo Switch for sale yesterday for 29,980, and today the ACNH Nintendo Switch for 35,960.
Blathers looks downright scary when he's angry. Give him a red snapper and listen to him go off!
My second island is in the southern hemisphere, and the moon is indeed upside down. At least, the crescent's on the other side to the northern hemisphere.
New day now starts at 5am. If you didn't finish the Nook Miles + objectives, too bad, they get reset. I'll leave it to you to decide whether I stayed up to find this out or drifted in and out of consciousness through the night.
I got the Chara Parfait Game Special magazine, and they showed off some of the new villagers, but didn't give any other info other than showing their images. Loving that cat, whatever its name is. Relying on others to find this out.
Also in the magazine, they showed Saharah giving the option of small, medium, or large for various amounts, so we have that to look forward to!

NH islands - Arrokoth (orange, lily, north) and Bludger (peach, mum, south)
You can get stung by wasps once and be fine, but if you get stung twice you faint and get set back to your house, similar to getting bit by a tarantula in past AC games.
Tarantulas now spawn in several more months other than the summer months (Forgot which ones exactly, will update this post when I get back on my Switch). They also don't automatically chase you when you pull out the net like in past games, instead they stay still, and the more you move towards them they will put up their two front legs (like they do in real life) to try to scare you off. If you move when they do this, they'll run at you, don't move at all and they'll put their legs down, meaning its safe to move closer to them.
You can now buy your native fruit from Timmy for 400 bells, and from what I know, this has a seemingly unlimited stock.
Wharf Roaches will spawn on the rocks on your beach and be stationary instead of spawning on the sand and running really fast like in New Leaf.
Any villager you meet on the Nook Miles Ticket seems to always move to your island when you ask them too (I've done this to two villagers, and neither of them declined to come live at my island. I assume that if you have the maximum number of villagers on your island, they might say no if you try to invite them).
That's all the info I have right now, I hope it helps!

I believe one of the most valuable lessons that comes with growing up is
gaining the wisdom that gently informs you when it's time to retire a meme.
Deserted Islands will always have 4 rocks and 4 palm trees, with one rock always requiring the use of a ladder to reach.
Every deserted island has a crafting table on it, so no need to bring one.
Not sure if fish bait can lure out of season fish or not, but I used some and got a great white shark (Souther Hemi/Fall Season Town).
Once you get your first vanity/mirror when you look at it in your house you can change your hairstyle/face/eyes. And a few new hairdoes are added right away. More can be bought with nook miles
