Not sure about all of y'all but I'm already planning ways to Terraform my island! This feature is by far my favorite so far, I just hope it's as exciting as it appears to be.
Me & my Sister have already been discussing the ways we can change our island through Terraforming, How about y'all?

my friend and his bf share a switch so I told him they should make a river that runs straight through the middle of the town so they each get a side
I've been thinking about what I want to do, but there are so many possibilities that I don't even know where to begin! I think I'll need a good few months with the game before I start seriously planning. I've been thinking about potential weird layouts I might be able to get away with though, like making an excessive number of waterfalls, or bridging together a bunch of tiny islands. I'll need to know the limits of the game before I start doing anything like that though

By the time we unlock Terraforming, we'll have a basic town layout already. Me & my family will share an island for now so development on our Island will be faster than a single person playing.
One idea to Terraform my island is make a double waterfall (Just think of stairs).

Kidding. Sort of. I'm not naming my island Koholint, but I did float the idea of sticking a giant egg at the highest point just for fun when they showed you can place furniture outside.
If the Master Sword returns, definitely a lost woods-esque area tucked away somewhere.
No real plans yet, just fun little ideas. Like Chiyoko, will definitely explore and push things to find the limits!

I'm not sure really. In general I'm not very good at planning or organizing the layout of my town.
Honestly in some ways the ability to place furniture outside is scaring me because the inside of my house in New Leaf is more like a glorified storage facility than a home.
I'm hoping that they new ease of use features they introduce will encourage me to take a more proactive approach to laying out my town....and make it actually feel like a town.
My plan is to terraform my island to have the entire town in the center of the map, and then have a giant waterfall surround it. Like if there was a town at the center of Niagara falls

i thought it was really weird how water just started gushing out of nowhere.. like, i guess sometimes a underground spring can start a stream, but it just didn't look natural. I'm planning on not changing anything lol
Only thing I could think of was possibly having my home on a "hill", or raised platform of earth. Otherwise the example given in the direct, for the new waterfall area was really cute.

I’m excited by the fact that you can make single tile width rivers (and jump across them!!) so I know I’ll be incorporating some lil streams scattered about!! I think I want to stick with my usual brand of a foresty style town, and I love the idea of having tiny ponds and creeks twisting and turning through the trees and undergrowth
LOTS of waterfalls and those little rivers you can jump across surrounded by lots of lush trees!!

humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return.
in those days we believed it to be the world's one & only truth.
I have too many ideas!!!!! I kinda feel like I have to have at least one waterfall area and I'll probably limit the ponds to 2 or 3. Auughhh!!! Who knows! I haven't even come up with a name for my island!

Ya know what ya gotta do when life gets you down?Just keep swimming
just keep swimming just keep swimming
currently wondering if there's anything stopping us from doing a checkerboard pattern with water and land I feel like there's a game idea in there somewhere since you can hop over the small rivers

I want a crazy-waterlogged island with tiny pathways and impossible navigation. Because I'm crazy, IDK. I hope they don't limit the expansion of our rivers.

I can't wait to use the layout of my Wild World town and, using the terraforming tools, create a "HD Special Edition" version of my town layout from WW. It will be a burst of nostalgia and something to constantly work towards.
The only thing I have set on doing is putting the Museum right by a wall and putting two little waterfalls on either side of the building! I want to show case the museum as much as possible with nature and parks
You know the upper level in New Leaf where all the shops are? I might create something like that in new horizons. Put the museum, the shops, & maybe a house or 2 on top of a cliff. Make it look like a small City.

From my concept of how a town could have been from my Crossing to the New Life series, I'll be condensing the lake to be smaller in size (rather than it being a full 2x2 acres) unless we can have walkways along with bridges, in which case I might just keep it the same size. That will reduce the amount of space available elswhere, but that shouldn't be much of a problem.
After a few days of consideration I would like to create a heart-shaped pond or lake, with one waterfall on each side of the island. I am thinking of having a heart-themed island.
