How many people in your home or immediate circle, are getting ACNH? How many switches are in your home, that will have their own copies?
I've been yelled at so much today, because I have 5 switches in my house, me, my hubs, my 2 kids and my cousin. And we're all going to get separate digital copies of ACNH. I was told to just 'game share' which is something I really don't like doing...
Sorry, my anxiety is up now and I'm curious what others will say, if anyone here will yell at me for our gaming decisions...
You can have up to 8 people visiting at once! This isn’t the game to have to share a copy of the game! I only have 2 switches in the house and my spouse doesn’t play animal crossing, but I will probably buy a copy for his switch anyways...you know just incase lol

So many new things things to collect!
I keep getting told "you know the save is on the switch right? if you loaded up 5 different copies it'd still load the same island" Yes I know this, I just have 5 people myself included that want the game. Some people just can't accept the fact that there are people who don't like sharing.
And it's a good idea to get your hubs a copy, just incase ^^
Yes, I can see that it would be silly to buy multiple copies if you were all on the same Switch, but if everyone's on separate consoles and wants to play together... then yeah, you're gonna need multiple copies. Not sure why anyone would yell at you about that.
As for my family, we'll likely buy two copies - one for me, and one for my siblings, who share a Switch.

There's no place like 192.168.0.0/16.
in my circle there's pretty much just my sister, who doesn't live at home anymore, and my friend who lives in a different country, so ofc we're all getting our own games. that said, even if they DID all live in the same house as me, I would still get at least a separate copy for myself because otherwise I'd either hog the thing all day every day, or sit stewing while waiting for someone else to be done with it. more casual players could get away with sharing a copy, but if you love the game and play it a lot, you're better off getting your own

In my own home there are two Nintendo switch’s. Mine and my husbands. Then in my “circle” including me, there will be six people getting animal crossing! All of us are very excited for it. No one likes to share...I think it will be fun to live in a house where everyone has their own island !!
yall are so much more understanding than the folks from facebook.. We all love AC. Some folks, I guess, just can't function unless they make someone else feel like crud. :/ we're all super excited for NH
I think another thing too is that AC is the kind of game you get a lot of playtime out of. it's not the kind of game you finish and put down. you can easily keep playing it for at least a year, and that's a lot of bang for your buck. I think the argument of "you should just share a copy" holds up better for games where you can actually beat and be done with. plus AC is one of those games that are nice to have on you while you're out and about incase you need to kill some time, which you can't do as easily if you're sharing.

Also if there is a streetpass feature, it’s nice to be able to get the rewards by bumping friends/housemates since you don’t always get lucky while out and about.

Just one, I suppose. Although I still haven't gotten around to buying a Switch.
As for "circle," I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I have a friend group where everyone will be getting the game. We live all over the place, though, so it's not like we could share a copy.
Your gaming decisions are yours alone, and Animal Crossing is a pretty difficult game to share due to how personalised it is. Even if they meant the ability to share one digital copy by having your account signed in on multiple Switches, the game can still only be used by one unit at a time (and you may well not want your account accessible on a relative's Switch, for example if your account has purchased higher age-rated games than a younger relative is old enough for, or whatever). It seems strange to yell at a family for buying their own personal copies of a game like this for their own personal hardware.
For what it's worth, there are two Switches in my household (my Switch Lite, and a standard Switch), though I'm the only one who's interested in ACNH at this time. We do both have our own physical copies of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, however. I don't find it unusual for separate console owners in one household to have personal copies of frequently-played games - especially titles that support multi-console multi-player modes.
In my immediate circle there are at least two or three people who'll be picking the game up, but some of them are located elsewhere in the country/world.
last time I ever shared a game or system was with my uncles ex, and she saved over both my file and my hubs file on the game, because we had better gear than her.... was back on psp days....
I only did something similar when I was like 10 years old and being bratty... me and my brother were doing a link cable battle for Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, and I lost and unplugged the cable. He got really upset because doing that could corrupt data back then! Luckily his file was okay but he didn't wanna battle me again after that.
Anyway, as for the question at hand...
My house includes me and my mom. And my mom doesn't play video games. So it'll just be me.
I have no real-life friends where I live, and nobody in my area like Nintendo stuff. It's mostly old people, but the few younger people either don't play video games or just play Xbox or PC.
However, I do plan on sharing my town and making characters for my brother and my cousin for when I go visit them. I can bring my Switch and they can help me gather crafting supplies! My cousin has her own Switch but idk if she's gonna get the game.

I feel like in a lot of online communities there are complaints with the Facebook groups, so don't feel too bad!
Also, if you share a copy you can't visit each other's towns, right? I don't really understand their argument, unless if I misread something... I know that you can play together on the Switch now but that's still for characters living on the same island. And what if people wanted to play alone on their games at the same time?
Plus, in the end you can think of it as supporting the game even more! (not that Nintendo will notice, but still)
Honestly, I'm not positive if there's any of in my circle of friends who will get it right away... One has a Switch and said he might get it, but he got ACNL mostly because he knows that I like it and I don't think he ever played it too much. Another friend doesn't have a Switch yet, wants one, but is currently trying to study in order to get a job in a new field, so will need to focus on that.
Otherwise people in my larger circle of friends or maybe a couple of online friends.

Starry, starry night... Paint your palette blue and grey AC YouTube channel
that's what I was trying to get across to them, the more copies I buy, the more it counts to the overall of the game sales.. lady wouldn't listen to me at all, so I deleted my whole post.. Honestly about to leave that fb group, folks on fb are rude ><
