Wondering if anyone plays a mandolin? Bought a nice starter mandolin online and plan on teaching myself to play it using YouTube videos.

The hardest part so far was tuning. I tried a few phone apps but what worked best was this thing called a Snark. It’s a clip on tuner I bought from Amazon. I’m watching YouTube videos, taking my time. In regards to a guitar, it’s got 8 strings but really only 4 that are doubled (G, D, A and E). Love the sound.

I'm glad you found a solution to tune it, and that you are taking your time with it. You should make a tape of it when you feel more confident and share it with us!
