Today's release of the Switch remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening inspired me to post this, as my first ever town was called Koholint, after the island from that game.
I'm sure that towns named Koholint were almost as widespread as towns named Hyrule back then, but I liked the name so I went with it anyway. And with the next Animal Crossing title due out several months after this high-profile remake, I'm sure that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will see many Koholints, too!
So guys, what was the name of your very first Animal Crossing town?
my first town was called The Bar. I didn't understand that rover was asking me the name of a town and I tried to write The Beach but it wouldn't fit. I didn't know what a bar was other than that it was a place you can go to (all those "three guys walk into a bar..." style jokes) and that the word was short enough to fit

I honestly don't remember the first town name I had. I do remember playing on GameCube as a (female) villager named Mac. When I got Wild World, I played my town as Dally. No reason for either of those... Just came up with them. Since I restarted my New Leaf town 3 years ago, all of my towns currently have been my last name.

My first town was named after the city I live in, which I'm not willing to share with strangers on the internet lol
I will say that it was cut short because the city I live in has 9 letters in its name. Even though my city has an abundance of semi-official shortenings that are used in tourist places and stuff like that
Most other towns I've had in my time on Animal Crossing have been named after real places, though, so I guess my first town's name lives on as a trend.
I've never really been creative enough to come up with my own artistic names
I can't remember my first town, however I named my second town 'Mii' on Wild World using an emulator. I am pretty sure I still have the save file somewhere on my old laptop.
I was a silly kid at the time and literally didn't know where I was going when Kapp'n asked in Wild World. So I put in Idunno ("I dunno/I don't know").

Can't wait for New Horizons. c:
I have no idea what I named my town when I was eight. (gamecube) It probably was the town I lived in tbh
My wild world town was called Tokyo though, and unfortunately I have all my diaries written from 2006 when I was 12 on my account, so it's totally all catalogued now and embarrassing but a nice memory

Seaside was my original Gamecube town. I may have thought it worked so good that I did it again for either WW or CF, I forget which one but I definitely did it again. Now I just name the towns after wherever I live irl.
I believe mine was Orwell (the town i actually lived in at the time) or Florida (???) if I remember correctly. I think was like 7 or 8 at the time and i didn't really understand the concept lol
I named my first town Error as a bit of an inside joke (GC version in 2012), but he name stuck and now all of my main towns in every game are called Error.
