Wow, I'll bet the Reset Surveillance Center would have closed down due to the new auto-save and lack of reset button on the Switch. Resetti's brother Don would have to find another job as well. I will bet many people would miss him, but for others they say "Good riddance!" I look forward to this game's release next year!
If you win, take it and remain humble. If you lose, stand firm with honor.
I would have preferred if they did not make auto-save. Similar to Pokemon, I prefer for AC to have manual save so if I want to experiment with re-doing my house or town layout without it saving when I experiment, I can choose when to save. Additionally, having manual save allows for Resetti to be a feature. Bummer...
I've mentioned this elsewhere, but I'll miss the peace of mind that comes with manual saving. Seeing the "saved!" message is much more reassuring than just trusting that the autosave will work properly.

To be honest, when his job role was demoted in new leaf that was quite a shock, as many users from the early games know Mr Resetti was a dominant character if they weren't good on saving their games. Im guessing he will have a limited role, nothing less than new leaf but defiantly nothing more sadly
I always found it pretty unfortunate that people took the obviously-parodical Mr. Resetti so seriously that they and their children were left distressed by a character who is a walking Looney Tunes trope about an angry overworked employee. (What a pity that more people didn't use it as a learning opportunity - not every employee of every organisation is going to be nice to you and your kids if you're breaking the rules, but also not every employee who isn't nice to you is a bad person and more likely than not they simply don't want you to come to harm. It's a good thing to learn, and it was a life-lesson that it can easily be argued that Resetti provided in a harmless virtual environment. )
Though auto-saving becoming the norm was bound to eventually cost him his job, the bad reviews that Resetti netted previous games (the Amazon UK reviews of Animal Crossing: Wild World provide some examples) and the complaints that Nintendo received as a result have obviously played a part too, since we had a warning about him in the manual for Let's Go to the City (PAL City Folk), before New Leaf effectively made him optional, and they removed his (hilarious) Assist Trophy from the Super Smash Bros. series, too.
Even though I've never made a habit of resetting (I've literally only done it once or twice per game just to get to see the guy, and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to visit the Reset Surveillance Centre whenever I could), Mr. Resetti is easily one of my favourite Animal Crossing NPCs, so I hope that whatever his new role is, it's a good and fitting one.
I really hope hes still in the game, but because of this its part of some sort of side quest with him and his bro where you have to help him feel better after being fired? Mr. Resetti has always been a funny 4th wall breaking character, im fairly sure he'll be back, even if it is just as a gag to show off the auto-save feature.
