100 DAYS!! That's just barely over 3 months

And it appears tiers have been confirmed – upper and lower levels of towns – in one or more of the same new screenshots!

I like having that division. I find that I work better creatively when I have some restrictions places on me rather than having unlimited space.

Three months still seems like a really, really long time, to be honest. At least there are still plenty of things to do in my New Leaf town while waiting.

... This gives me the idea that they should totally have the Mii outfits from Super Mario Maker 2 as clothing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I haven't played SMM2 so I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about, but back in City Folk you could dress your character in a Mii mask.

707penguin - Here, take a look. Super Mario Maker 2 has Mii outfits that can be unlocked, which are used to alter your Mii's appearance on your in-game profile-page. There's pretty typical stuff like shirts, trousers, skirts, and hats, but there are also character costumes that are along the lines of those seen in previous Animal Crossing titles, StreetPass Mii Plaza, and Tomodachi Life, as in the linked screenshot. HatakeSage's joke made me think about how much fun it'd be to go stomping around in the Bowser one at Halloween.

The Mii Mask was retained in New Leaf, so hopefully we'll see that make a return in New Horizons, too - I've got a bunch of weird Miis that I'm amused by, and I'd definitely love to have some masks based on them.

It would be nice if the Mii Masks return! I like to believe my Mii’s live on an island,
(like Wuhu Island, where all the Miis live ) so my villagers in New Horizons are most likely going to be based on them

PennyGwin I will most definitely be looking for anyone who has that dress.  International play is what endeared me to ACCF. I loved and still cherish some of the people I've met from England, Germany, Australia and more. One day we the people will stop all the wars because we have so many AC international friends. We are just really all the same that play this delightful game. Geeeze making myself feel all silly.   

DaBraxMan Thanks for that, I didn't notice. I'll have to go back and have another look at the landscapes.

Edit: Oh and rereading some of the posts regarding how the Switch saves files, are we going to be able to buy additional game carts to have additional towns? Would we have to have more than one Switch? So sad if that is the case. For ACNL I had two games one electronic on my 3dsxl and a physical one that I could put in my original 3ds. Even if I didn't want to wifi with myself it was fun to have two towns that were quite different and I only used one for completing my catalog and Museum. Not sure how this is going to work with the Switch.....

It's one town per Switch, yeah.

Also you can see bangs under the girl's hat in the winter photo, which is a nice touch.

What if you change profile in the switch..usually most  games have thier own saves in thier own profile

Sweety162000 - It's still only one island per Switch, even if you do that. It's an exception to the usual rule. And the game doesn't support Nintendo Switch Online's Cloud Saves feature, either.

PennyGwin oh darn Sweety162000 had me excited there for a second. I don't get why they would limit that. They surely don't expect us to buy more than one Switch. Good grief it's bad enough to pay for one. As for the save file AC they have always been very protective of it so that we don't hack the game. There were so many griefers in WW that they ruined it for all of us. At least that's my best guess.

Granny789 - This is purely speculation on my part, but I'm guessing that the save-file for Animal Crossing: New Horizons might be larger than the norm, and this was therefore the best way to implement it. I'm assuming that there's some set limit on how big a save-file is allowed to be, though, and if that's not so, then I'm stumped as to why it's been done the way that it has been. (The one thing that I know for sure is that Switch cartridges do not have flash-memory for save-files on them, that all saves go to the on-board memory, and that you can't move them to your microSD Card.)

Also, yeesh, I haven't thought about the heights of the griefers in ACWW's online mode for many years, but just the mere mention of it reminds me of being concerned even when well-intentioned friends visited, just in case anyone accidentally set off the glitches that griefers typically leveraged! (What was it? Pitfall Seeds too close to the town gates, if I'm remembering right? Something that could even potentially happen when the game spawned them naturally each day, as far as I know.) Those days are not missed, I can tell you!

It's only 3 more months... I can't believe It's already been 6 months since they revealed the release date!

Wow, that could happen? That seems like something that Nintendo would have wanted to patch immediately. It must have been pretty rare, though, since it never happened to me in a couple thousand hours of gameplay.

707penguin - Well, it's not like they could've patched it, back in those days! I don't know if a v1.1 cartridge silently went out into the wild that did address it, either (I don't even know if the later European version did - I imported mine). Still, it didn't happen to me either, but I always figured that it possibly could, going by what I knew about it, hence the concern. It's one of those glitches that I'd love to learn more about, one of these days...

Does releasing an updated game card not count as a patch? That's what I was thinking of.

Ohh, I follow! I hear "patch" used in the modern sense all the time, so I just didn't think of that definition.
