honestly I think the main things I'm most excited for are also pretty minor
the variety of weeds! they look so nice and I'm really gonna need to reconsider my usual method of landscaping to incorporate them
short shorts finally shorts that are short enough to show off cute leggings
the realistic shadows! no more just plain circles under things! even the clouds cast shadows! that along with the wind is going to be so atmospheric I'm so excited!!
and the most reasonable thing to be excited about, outdoor furniture!! no more "public works must be two spaces apart" I can put stuff wherever I want it. hopefully if there's a furniture limit, it's not too small.

I just like the overall feel, or at least what I think it will be from what we've seen. The whole mayor thing in AC:NL felt way different than the game I fell in love with (AC:GC) because you were moving into an established town and improving it rather than moving into the middle of a forest and doing what you want with it. This seems ways closer to AC:GC although it's hard to tell from what little we've seen.

It all looks really good so far. I'd have to say the biggest things I'm excited for so far are the 8-player multiplayer and outdoor furniture placement. The new path system is a nice addition as well!

The island size. I really hope the island they showed at e3 (the one they were playing) was just a tiny demo for e3 because it was a very small size even smaller than NL's town I'd say. (looked like a 4x4 grid) And that is what worries me.

My biggest concerns are tool-related, particularly the crafting aspect and the introduction of bait for fishing. I'm hoping that the latter will be optional, and will perhaps simply extend the window of time you have to reel in the fish.
707penguin: I really hope that the introduction of bait doesn't mean that we can't infinitely fish anymore. Because catching all the different types of fish would be really difficult then. I know I've spent hours trying to catch certain fish.

Im just excited to have a complete new platform with countless new ideas and abilities, just was the same when i was just seeing the trailers for New Leaf. That wait seemed to last the longest time!
my mind keeps wandering to different things to be excited and concerned about, but at this very moment the thing I'm most concerned about is that Harriet will be gone. they keep saying stuff like "you can design your character at the start of the game, then you can easily change it at any time", which is all fine and good, but sounds like you can change your hair without Harriet. kinda hoping you can choose your hair at the start, but have to unlock her to change it again, OR maybe Harriet makes wigs or can give you more hairstyle and colour options or something.

I'm concerned about the furniture available. Pocket Camp had a small percentage of the furniture from other games. It seems like with the way crafting works and you order from a catalog instead of buying from the store (at least to start) I'm afraid they'll cut back significantly.

I'm not too worried about that actually! It seems to me that Nintendo wants this game to last a long time (what with you essentially starting from scratch instead of in a pre-established town), so I think we can assume that there will be no shortage of furniture.
As far as the fishing bait goes, it might function one of these two ways: first, it allows you to cast your bobber into the water and fish even without there being a fish shadow. Second, certain types of fish like certain types of bait, so if you're looking to catch a ton of sea bass for any reason, you can equip the bait they enjoy the most to increase the likelihood of you catching one.

Oh, I didn't think of that! Those are possibilities too. I think I prefer the second one.
I like the idea of bait kind of influencing the randomness of what fish you get. Like if you're looking for a certain fish, use a certain bait. It might help if a villager wants a certain fish, or if you're wanting to get a certain fish for the fishing contest, or if you're just trying to catch things you don't have already.
I thought that you were going to try to come up with a new question each day until the release. I can see why you didn't, though; I would have been very impressed if you had managed to keep it up for 280 days.
I’d love to see the raffles from PG come back. I know it likely won’t, but saving the raffle tickets and then going to the raffle was one of my favorite features ever. Not unique, but I really hope igloos and tents are back in NH too!
Auctions in CF were the dumbest things ever. Did anyone even use them? I was pretty young at the time, so I barely even understood how it worked. Maybe I'd like it better now, but I think NL's system is much easier.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.
"That would've been nice, haha. Maybe I could shoot for every now and then, but probably not every day. "
We could crowdsource it, such that each day anyone can update the countdown (although obviously not the one in the title) and post a question.
"What's one unique feature of a past AC title that you hope to see return?"
Ooh, this is an excellent question. Most of the stuff that I want to return from Wild World either isn't really a singular feature or appeared in one of the other games as well. I guess I'll go with the island tours from New Leaf. I'd like to see them add some more as well, and I'd like them not to include the actual island permanently set to August and teeming with super valuable fish and bugs (and also ribbon eels and coconut crabs).
The thing I miss the most is the Gracie Grace store and going to the city in City Folk, there was just something fun about travelling there. Having it attached to your town like in new leaf just makes me feel like I'm not travelling anywhere new. Probably weird but yeah lol
