So, as much as I love the new fortune cookie aspect of the game, I have had a frustrating time with it so far. I really love marshal's pastry set or whatever the set is called and I really want to collect all the pieces. Of the six marshall fortune cookies I have bought so far, I have gotten 2 chairs and 4 god forsaken pastry shop lace hats. I'm fine with multiple chairs, since a pastry shop would need multiple chairs anyway...but 4 hats???

It's especially annoying since the cookies typically cost 50 leaf tickets each, if you're not lucky enough to have a 5,000 bell cookie show up in your shop. I really don't want to have tp spend real money on this game, but the completionist in me is freaking out.

Well, sort of. As soon as I comprehended the fortune cookie mechanics I decided to NOT spend any Leaf Tickets on them, because I knew that as soon as I'd run out of the ones that I earned through playing the game I'd be tempted to spend some real money. And I don't want that, especially because LT are so expensive and mostly because there's no guarantee that I'd get all items. I read on Reddit about someone who had to spend 140 US$ to get all of Hopkins's items, someone else spent 80 US$ on them.

So I just buy them for Bells or get the regular ones from animals. I had a Hopkins's fortune cookie for 5000 Bells yesterday. Did everybody get that cookie as well? I got the New Nintendo 3DS XL out of it.

I'm just as bad a completionist as you are Julie but this time I'm not going to give in. Be strong girl!

I did not have the Hopkins cookie in my shop yesterday. & like you, I have been trying not to spend leaf tickets on fortune cookies, or to spend as little as possible. Out of the 6 marshal cookies I have gotten, I think I have spent leaf tickets on 3. I have about 1,000 leaf tickets right now, which sounds like a lot, but if I want to craft things like Brewster, Celeste, and the items from the gyroid event (Isabelle hat, KKs guitar, etc) I am going to have to be mindful of my spending.

Of course, there is always the punch cards which can allow you to guarantee an item, but even then, you have to spend leaf tickets on 10 cookies to get just one punch card, and the rarer items require multiple punch cards to purchase. I just don't think it's worth it. It's too bad we can't get punch cards by spending bells on cookies...

I am relieved to see another completionist facing the same dilemma. I am glad to see you are not letting it get to you, I will try to do the same! We must stay strong!

The only thing i'm weak is the furniture like celeste, nook etc. I got them and it's 350 each. So my LT's reserve a weak. Therefore i can't afford spending LT's on cookie as the only stuff i buy with lt's are the specials characters stuff. (and some spot in my inventory cause geez i'm always full)

I'm so sad to see how badlucky you were with all the laces ... Out of the few cookies I got for free I've got only the suit of marshalls twice (which went directly to gulliver lol) But if it was real LT for duplicates, i'll be as disapointed as you i think ... Be strong !

For now I didn't spend any real money and i don't intend to do so ! I'l just have to coop with my frustration xD

I didn't buy Nook and K.K. but I did buy Celeste and I'm sorry I did 'cause I don't even display her. I'm on the fence about Brewster though, anybody know whether he actually does something?

I have some 600 LT currently but there's still Brewster. I did buy Isabelle's hat and K.K.'s guitar. The guitar is cool, the animals really play on it, I mean they pick it up instead of standing in front of it.

We should totally have a completionist's club, maybe called Completionists Collect! or Completionists Anonymous, where we could say things like "there there, it's not the end of the world if you don't own item X" and have other soothing comments.

Sorry to hear about all those lace hats. I got one as well, for the only Marshal cookie I could buy for Bells and I remember being pretty disappointed by even the one lace hat. I was luckier before, I got the cake tower from the free cookie and the table from the Twitter Marshal cookie. And just a couple of minutes ago at the rotation I found another Marshall cookie which gave me the pastry_shop cake case!

You got pretty lucky with marshall's stuff ! Now you make me wonder if I should get KK's guitar, as I own his seat. I could replace celeste for a while and see.

I don't want to spend LTs on these because I too know that I would be very tempted to keep spending to get it all. I don't think the cookies should be limited time, because they are really trying to force people to spend money.

I wish they would keep all the kinds always available as maybe a 5% chance to appear in the shop each day. That would be fair. Then you could spend real life money if you wanted or you could wait and hope.

i have had the same problem, i now hove 6 brown pots, dresses galore(like i am ever gonna use them, and tonnes of duplicate hats, i just cant believe they want us to spend that many leaf tickets(and or bells), just to get repeats it is very frustrating.
on the up side i have the knight outfit (other then the boots, if they have them)

I was super tempted to buy a Hopkins cookie, but knowing my luck I would end up with a stand or blank wall. All I want is the gamecube and that's the one I know I'll never get. I'm determined to only spend bells on the cookies as well. 50 LT's is very pricey in my opinion with those mechanics. If they were like, 20... Then I'd be all up ons. So far, I've had about 3x pastry, 1x pop star, 1x, rocket. (and an insane amount of the normal ones)

Does anyone know: if when you give an animal a Bug or Fish worth more than 2.5k are the cookies randomized? Or can you only get the plain ones? (this has been my main source of cookies, but I've never gotten a theme cookie from it) ((yet))

Regarding the K.K. Guitar, does anyone know if it has any extra benefits for those who have K.K.s chair? I have a special place in my heart for that dog, so I'll always have him up in my camp - so it wouldn't actually make sense to get the guitar if he's always holding / playing it, you know?

I have exactly the same! I wore the rocket-pilot boots with them but I grew tired of not seeing my face so now I'm a sort of a Mexican cowboy (sombrero, western shirt, cowboy boots, explorer pants). Yeah, you've got to make do with what you've got.

I've had the free pop-star cookie and one day I was lucky and found two special cookies in the store, one rocket and one pop-star. So from pop-star I have the blue and the pink dress, and the blue one looks amazing on Tia. For rocket I have two (!) rocket-pilot jackets, the boots and the smoke blaster. I love that last item, it goes with any theme to give an eery feel.

From experience I'm pretty sure that koi, Napoleonfish, tuna and goliath beetle give a guaranteed cookie, either clothing, Timmy's or Tommy's. I've never had a special cookie from animals. I've given emperors, football fish, sea horses and jewel beetles to animals but very often got no fortune cookie and now I've given up on giving those rares and just hand out horned dynastids, black basses and red snappers and (rarely) get a cookie in exchange.

I don't have K.K.'s chair so I can't be sure what happens when you have it, but K.K.'s guitar appears to be a separate entity and you could try placing it next to K.K.'s chair and if you're lucky you'd have K.K. playing guitar with an animal next to him playing the same type of guitar. In other words, my best bet would be that you'd have two guitar players with two guitars. Anyways, I'll keep a look out when visiting friends to see if one of them has that setup.

When it comes to animals giving cookies, I always save the bugs and fish worth 1,500 bells to give to the animals (rainbow trout, loach, neon tetra, blowfish, miyama stag, etc.). I find that they give a cookie for those creatures about half the time. I have also never gotten a special cookie from villagers, I am assuming it's not possible, they really want us spending leaf tickets!

I had the Hopkins cookie up to buy...and i got the game stand, of course. What do i DO with it? I tried putting it in my campsite but i can't stand the Switch on it....what's it supposed to be for? I'm just really confused

I've visited friends and I've seen the game stands with all the consoles on it (including both Switches) and I assumed it was a table. So it's not? Still, there must be a way to get a console on a stand. Maybe you have to ensure that there's space in front of the stand before trying to place something on it?

I was actually wrong, it wasn't the stand, it was a screen, i looked too fast. I wonder if you can show the games playing on it or something

I know this is a double post, but I just wanted to say that I had a Filbert AND a Hopkins cookie up for my two market place bell cookies today, I have never had two specials before, made my day. I also got the item I had been hoping for out of the Hopkins cookie, the new 3DS XL

so far I've only had four special cookies for sale, and all four times also happen to be the only four times I wasn't around to buy cookies the moment they restocked. anybody else notice some sort of connection like this? am I better off waiting a little bit to buy cookies, or is this just a coincidence?

Congrats monsterbunni and julphi! I guess that's what all the disappointments are meant for: to make you feel real good when the game gives you a break.

Chiyoko when the cookies weren't stale yet there was this false rumor that the cookies would refresh after 12 hours if you didn't buy them at first. I tried that but after 12 hours nothing had changed and indeed the rumor was false. So the cookies are fixed from the beginning of their rotation right until the end.

Does anyone know that you can trade stamp cards for items from each character set? (ie Hopkin's Game set, marshal's pastry set)

You need to trade the whole card, though, which stinks. Basically 500 leaf tickets per item...

i mean, theyre loot boxes. Theyre designed to rip you off and make you pay extortionate money for one item.

the acpc reddit blew up when they were made, and its not really calmed down since.

The issue of their expense is that because LTs are basically useless/so overvalued everywhere else, theyre essentially useless, meaning that their only real use are these cookies. But no one wants to pay them because they view LT as useless overall. That with the extortionate price of LT bundles in a childrens game kinda leads to them sucking. Not to mention the possibility of duplicates


Having said that ive spent around 450 LT on them and honestly i think its just worth waiting.

but also, its not 500LT per item, it's 500LT per item except the main items of the set, then its 2500LT for one item

I hope nintendo wakes up soon tbh, it sucks having these locked to me and gated behind stupid RNG for appearance rates for bells.

So aside from bag expansion (which annoyingly caps at 300) and crafting stations, should I even save my LT for anything else?
They seem rather useless imo, and I'm considering splurging the LT i have been saving since release on a bunch of cookies bc I really want the pastry set
