I am looking for some good strategies for making a lot of bells! I currently sell fruit, shells, and fish for bells! I also look for the special rocks that give out money or minerals everyday as well. Is there anything else that I can be doing to make bells?

one of the most reliable ways to make bells is to head to the island after 7pm. get rid of all the flowers, bushes, stumps and trees except for the palm trees. all the bugs that spawn on the palm trees are worth between 7200 and 15000 bells. scare away any bugs that are not palm tree beetles so that more palm tree beetles can spawn. also take your rod with you and catch all the sharks and scare away the smaller fish. one trip to the island with a full basket often nets between 200,000 and 500,000 bells

another good method is to grow perfect fruit. you can only grow perfect fruit of your town's native fruit (for example if your town started with apples you can only grow perfect apple trees. if you plant a perfect orange it'll turn into a regular orange tree). after you harvest fruit from a perfect fruit tree enough times, the tree will die, but you can chop it down and replant it. collect as much fruit as you can until you can barely store it anymore, then head to the trading forums and find someone with a different native fruit who will let you sell your fruit (even better if they have wealthy ordinance turned on or if that fruit is the special item at retail or both). one non-native perfect fruit is worth 3000 bells. one basket of 9 is worth 27000 bells. they're worth even more than that in towns with wealthy ordinance. if you don't have any perfect fruit right now, chances are someone on the trading forum will give you a few to get started for free.

^I'm gonna start doin the perfect fruit thing with my peach trees. I have more baskets than I think I can store now. I need 20mil more to get the postman hat.

I used to plant an orchard of bamboo, then dig up the stars that the bamboo produced, which is the start of a bamboo growing in that spot. After having one drawer full of 9 baskets, I would sell to Reese. I usually got quite a bit. I'll have to do the math, but one sells for 750, and ten baskets of 9 adds up to 75,000? My math is terrible.

Also, cause I'm lazy and don't want to go to the museum everyday, I would stock up on fossils since you dig 2-4 a day, wait till my blue secret storage drawer couldn't fit anymore then have Blathers assess them. One pocket full of assessed fossils, excluding the 4 or 5 spots for tools, averages around 40,000. Keep assessing them till you don't have any more. Then stock up again.

This is a much slower method, but stock up on the ore you find then wait till Reese sells them for premium.

I forgot, if you don't really need leaf tickets anymore, you can exchange those for bells. One of my characters got 300,000+ bells for leaf tickets, and I didn't even have 100 of them.

Thanks everyone for the advice! Chiyoko your advice on hunting for beetles on the island was genius. I just made 300k+ bells in about an hour doing that! That is the best way to make bells that I have found so far!

For completeness's sake I'd like to mention the turnip trade which is in my opinion the best way to make Bells. It's better done in a group although it can be done on your own. I have such good memories of the time that I was in a group of four where we were aiming to all get the Gold Bell Saver badge and the ABD that you get when you have 100,000,000 Bells in the bank. We each saved up 25 M by turnip trading and next moved all those Bells to each of our towns. We learned that you need to wait for Phineas to give you your badge before getting lower than 100M because one of us didn't and she didn't get the badge and had to restock her bank account all over again to get it in the end. Or that was about getting the ABD in the mail; it was in the early days of New Leaf so my memories may be somewhat inaccurate.

If you'd like to know more of turnip trading I could elaborate, but turnip trading is quite an effort and a risk and the methods that Chiyoko and Stella_Io mentioned are very good and don't carry any risk.

go to a friends town who has a different native fruit to you. grow a massive orchard of perfect fruit, then visit them and sell the prefect fruit. 3,000 bells per fruit. if you dont have oranges, feel free to send me a pt if you want to come and sell your fruit.

Yesss when I first got animal crossing I made 1mil bells I spent all of it on turnips on the day before they rotted someone's town had turnips for a high price and with that 1mil spent on turnips I made about 10 million ^^ so tt'd to Sunday to buy more and headed back. Turnips are the way to go
