I got fed up with my pockets being out of order all the time, so I sold everything and started over. I collected each item in order so they appear in my pockets in order. now all I do is make sure I never let myself run completely out of anything and it stays in order (other than coconuts and shells since I keep them at the top anyway). if you have some extra time one day I would def recommend it because it makes keeping track of what you have WAY easier.

I keep one of each and sell all the others I catch. The bells are decent enough to sell them straight and I have had people buy them from my market occasionally (I believe they do it as a 'gift' for helping them with something in the game or on here.) where the bells really are worth it. It also doesn't hurt I am sure, that I don't price them for ridiculous amounts which also may be a factor. As much as it pained me at the time, I decided to take down a tuna I had priced to the max the first day I started playing. Heh.
I keep one just so I am a little prepared for when they become needed in the game. I don't hold on to more because I do so cherish my inventory space. But to put that in perspective, I want more space so bad I'd drop 300 tickets just to get 3 more spaces.
If we ever were to get more space without getting more items to collect, ideally I would keep at least 3-5 each.
Chiyoko - I envy your patience to do that! I too think that's a great idea and it would be SO helpful for me. Perhaps on some rainy day I'll spend some time to follow in your footsteps.
