I am shooting for the best HHA score so I can get the golden exterior stuff. I'm not new to Animal Crossing and the Happy Rooms/Home/whatever else. I played Animal Crossing on the Game Cube and then Wild World on the DS. But some of these New Leaf guides have left me so confused.
I've mostly been using Thonky and the Animal Crossing Wiki and someone suggested looking at Liquefy's guide on Neoseeker.
First question, do themes apply the whole time or only when the theme challenge opens up?
Second question, is do furniture series that belong to multiple themes get counted twice for points?
Third question, and one which I can't seem to find anywhere, do the Amiibo furniture items count towards HHA scores? Like, I really want the Hello Kitty series but will it take away from my score if I swapped it out for one of the other furniture series (like use Hello Kitty over Lovely)?
And do furniture sets have to all be in the same room? Like, all the bears in one room?
For now this is shared account for Moonchi and Sinnocent (mom, ACC account)
So don't be alarmed if information on DS doesn't match. She's learning ACC
Please don't use Thonky. In its best parts it’s full of errors, and the HHA chapters are its worst parts. If you want to get good reliable info, useLiquefy's FAQ from GameFaqs. Chapters 13, 58 and 59 pertain to the theme challenges.
If you're going for the golden exterior parts, it's advisable to forget about making your house to your liking. Just close your eyes, take a deep breath, and fill your house with items of the theme you've chosen. Once you've unlocked all the golden exterior parts, you can install the Hello Kitty furniture and have all the other things you like. While you're in the process of unlocking the golden exterior parts, only actually install them when they have the theme you've selected, and be careful, because the golden exterior parts don't all have the same theme!
Select a theme that you already have a lot of furniture of, and/or you already have exterior parts for your house of. You need at least three exterior parts of your house to be of your selected theme, and each part takes a day to build, so you might want to start with your house exterior ASAP; also because you might not find them in Nook's Homes for a while. You can go to other towns and order exterior parts from their Nook's Homes to be sold in your own town if the waiting gets to you.
I may be mistaken, but I think having sets is a thing for getting the regular HHA points, not for the theme challenge.
