Everyone knows how you become mayor! You're on a train, meet Rover, get off at "x" town and Isabelle bestows the title of mayor upon you.
Does anyone have another view on how their character became mayor? Did your player finally move away from their parents? Are they a fugitive and needed a new alias? Did you hop off at the wrong stop and became mayor?
If you have one, what's your story?
I have two (I have two towns and sometimes you need to break up the monotomy of the game)
First, my mayor's brother recommended the town to her. Second, my other mayor is actually dreaming. So, nothing is real.
What AC:WW taught me: Always carry a clean cup with you~
Upon learning of Tortimer's retirement announcement, I bought property in his town in order to run. Once everyone cast their votes, I reminded election officials that only people have voting rights. I won the election with 100% (1) of the votes and moved in soon after so I could take office.
Funny story, actually. I started a crusade against the Tortimer Campaign, and me and Isabelle both took a share of the power, and became a power oligarchy. We now rule over the entirety of the animal world, ruling with a powerful fist, yet understanding and respecting all of our citizens rights and needs.

In Serenade, one of the past mayors died by natural causes and the ghost possessed my character. So I live my life fufilling their duty as a mayor unaware that I am possessed and have a life/will of my own.
In Scrolwrk, an evil scientist created the town and my character is forced to work as the mayor by the scientist's evil assistant Isabelle.
Tortimer committed fraud and resigned to avoid getting caught. He is really popular in his town so he gets everyone on board with a plan to bring in a new human mayor. As a part of this, he asks his friend Porter to find a human moving to a town they don't know. Rover actually has a mic on him and when they hear the name of the town you are going to, everyone in the town agrees to change the name of the town to that. Isabella insists on helping you to ensure you never come across the fraud. She also helps hide it from some higher level of government but they aren't sure how long they can keep hiding it so you're the one who will take the fall if if ever gets caught.
