I have arthritis and tendonitis in hands and arms, but am (understandably) addicted to playing AC. I played 10 years of ACWW on a DS/DSi XL, and I just started ACNL on the 3DS two weeks ago.
My hands and especially my thumbs really take a beating. On the DS/DSi XL you could use the stylus on the touch screen to change the muscles used, but the 3DS doesn’t allow for game play on the touch screen.
Does anyone have suggestions for playing ergonomically? I have ordered a grip and have a larger stylus. What are you doing to help your hands?
Are you on the 3DS XL or the regular? I know that, when Kid Icarus came out for the original 3DS, they added this little stand so you play your 3DS without actually holding it. I remember reading at the time that it was a dream for people whose hands cramped, but I've never used it. It might be worth looking into, if the grip doesn't help.
Just keep in mind that it's designed for the original 3DS, not the XL, so I don't know if it'll hold the XL as well. There might be a third party version for the XL if you look around.
If i'm sitting on the couch or in bed I usually put a bulky pillow under my 3DS so it's closer and my hands and wrists are relaxed. Also this way I don't have to hold my 3DS while playing. I do it because I'm lazy.
