Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

In Animal Crossing's first appearance on smartphones, you will star as a Campsite manager. As a manager you have the power to build up your campsite. Like previous installments of Animal Crossing, the game runs in real time, so it knows if it is night or day, fall or spring.

Crafting:

Unlike the main series games, in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp you will have to craft the items/furniture for your Campsite. To craft furniture you will have to collect many different types of materials such as wood, cotton, etc. and bring them to Cyrus's ship. Crafting different items for your campsite and displaying them will help attract different animals to your camp. You can obtain materials for crafting in many ways. Some ways include helping villagers with issues, as well as taking recourses straight from the environment. In addition to these materials, crafting will cost bells.

If a certain villagers favorite item(s) are on display at your camp, the chances of them appearing are very likely. So keep that in mind while crafting!

Like AC:NL's Public Work Projects, you can build amenities such as pools, merry-go-rounds, etc. for your campsite. Leaf tickets can make sure that your amenities are built faster. So far, we’ve seen that crafting can take anywhere from 1 minute for a simple item to 3 days for large amenities. Amenities will have parties when completed, much like Public Work Projects. Your friendship level with animals will increase if they attend one of these parties.

So far, we know that you can craft benches, tables a picnic basket, an electric guitar, a cactus, and a swinging bench. It appears that series, such as the ranch series, will be present in the game.

Leaf Tickets:

Leaf Tickets are a new type of currency in game. You can supplement any materials you’re running low on by using these tickets. You can also get these through regular gameplay, or with real money if you're feeling impatient. Using these can help you get items and amenities faster as well. Based on the recent Nintendo Direct, prices for Leaf Tickets range from $.99 for 20 to $7.99 for 200 and you get 10 Leaf Tickets for leveling up. There will also be goal, much like initiatives in AC:NL, where you can earn bells and Leaf Tickets. It is shown that 3 Leaf Tickets can be used to craft an item without the necessary materials.

Villagers:

As well as having animals visit you, you can also help increase your friendship level. All you have to do is help your animal friends with issues. After your friendship level is increased, the likelihood of them visiting your camp is increased. Once you've hosted an animal, he or she will be able to come back and visit anytime. Unlike in previous games, friendship you can see your friendship level with each animal. Villagers appear in each area of the game and give you requests based on what you can do there. Completing these requests will gain you bells and materials, as well as raise your friendship level with that animal.

Villager personalities are back in AC:PC. One personality listed is “sporty”. The amenities you put in your campground will have an impact on animals based on their personality.

Shops:

You can visit a ton of different shops as well. Some include "Nooklings Global" where you can purchase furniture that Cyrus may not be able to make. You can also visit "Able Sisters to Go" to get the most up to date fashion for your character. Kicks has a pop up shop as well that sells footwear. Like in previous games, shop items rotate.

Your Camper:

As well as customizing your Campsite, your tiny camper is not just for traveling from place to place. It’s a tiny home you can decorate with furniture to your likening. The exterior is customizable as well by visiting OK Motors, which is run by Beppe, Carlo, and Giovanni. You can also add expansions to your camper such as a loft!

With Friends:

Similar to previous main series games, you can visit people’s campsites. To do so all you have to do is share your player's ID with your friends. You can also exchange bells for their items, rate their campsite, etc. Your characters are also fully customizable so this means you can change your eyes, skin, hair, etc. any time you'd like. Players can place items for sale directly in the game, rather than placing items and bells on the ground as was commonly done in previous games. The preview also shows that you can play with people you’ve never met before, much like Club Tortimer in AC:NL. If you like each other, you can become friends.

What else can I do?

You can visit a variety of different places by viewing your Map. Some places include Saltwater Shores, Sunburst Island, Shovel Strike Quarry, a river, and a forest. Each place is filled with different animals, resources, and things to do.

Also like in the main series games you can also catch bugs, go fishing, shake trees, etc. This game will also include seasonal events just like in the main series games. These events will include special items, etc. that you may not be able to obtain anywhere else!

New Features

Instead of fishing with a pole, you can use a throw net to catch 10 fish at a time. It appears that this throw net is not reusable.

Honey is also added into the game which helps attract bugs. Honey and throw nets can both be bought with Leaf Tickets.

Instead of a house, you are given a camper. Like a house in previous games, you can customize the interior and exterior. It is unknown whether or not you can expand your camper.

3 new characters, Beppe, Carlo, and Giovanni, are introduced. They run OK Motors, the camper customization shop.

I've read that it is live for those who live in Australia. I'm interested in hearing their take on the game.

I've played it and there are more upgrades than just the second floor. I did the first one and it expanded the size of my first floor. I'm still not sure home many there are in total.

Also Australian here. I’ve been playing it pretty much all day and have gotten to level 5 so far and had accumulated a total of 12k Bells, but I spent most of it on a small silk hat. Whoops.

It seems like there aren’t as many bugs and fish as console and I’ve yet to see a sea bass surprisingly. Some of the items in the Nookling’s shop are quite expensive, like a handbag was 10,000 Bells. Yeah uh, no thanks. Fruits take I think 3 hours to respawn, so use them wisely - whether you decide to give them to a villager (probably the best thing to do IMO) or sell them, it’s up to you.

It reminds me a lot of Happy Home Designer as it’s mostly about creating and designing to accommodate a certain theme (so far i’ve seen cute, natural - which is what i picked, sporty, historic, civic and cool). There’s less focus on bug catching and fishing and more on designing a space. Also, I think it’s still quite playable if you don’t want to use in-app purchases. I’d be more upset if they had some kind of stamina thing, but Leaf Tickets pretty much allow you to buy special stuff (at the moment there’s a special limited event where you can spend 250 tickets on K.K. Slider’s stool or 250 on Tom Nook’s chair) or to speed up crafting processes.

Sorry if this was mentioned or brought up in the direct. i only watched a minute or so preview of the game and not the direct and then today i woke up knowing the game had been released over here, so i just jumped right in and started playing it.

I'm experiencing some buggy things in the game.

I leveled up to level 10, and I *think* one of the rewards was that I would get one more crafting space. I didn't. Could someone check the rewards for levelling up to 10?

If you place 4 green furniture items, you're supposed to get 10 Leaf tickets. I didn't get them, but the achievement was marked as complete.

If you try to buy Leaf tickets, the screen shows buttons, but the text on them is in Japanese (I guess). So you'd have no idea what you would buy.

There's a lot of info available in the game. There's a "Common questions" section with a lot of eh ... common questions, and answers too! When you select a destination on your map, it can show which collectibles are possibly available at the destination. Not sure whether that will be extended as you progress, but it shows things that you haven't encountered before, so it might be complete. For instance, I haven't seen an Emperor butterfly yet, but it is listed.

Been playing for 2 days now and level 16. Build time starts to really build up. 48 hours for the street amenity for example. Obviously encouraging you to use leaf tickets. A good blend of New Leaf and Happy Home designer. I'm in the UK by the way.

I was against the idea of downloading Pocket Camp because I can't link my Nintendo Account since it's out only for Australia right now but in the end I gave in.

I must admit, this game exceeded my (relatively low) expectations. It's been pretty fun so far, I'm up to Lv.15 at the moment.

In terms of upgrades, so far I have upgraded the second floor once one the ground floor once. Still paying off the 100,000 bell lone for the ground floor. If you log in for 10 days n a row you earn a special animal crossing paint job for your camper.

For people like myself who are in the US and waiting for release here, if you already have a Nintendo account you can preregister using your account. Use the link on our front page in the announcement and it literally took me two seconds. It uses the info in your account so no filling out anything.

I have the game and in my opinion, it’s very addicting. I’m about level 17 and it’s going good so far but it takes awhile for furniture to build so I can get the villager I’ve wanted to move in. I’ve had random people add me before and I just bought some items from them since I got a lot of bells already and it makes the game a bit more easier.

If you can’t get some of the items you’re looking for, see if your friends have it. If not, your best bet is to grind on that type of item. I try to keep all my fruit, bugs, fish and shells at a certain amount and whatever goes over the amount, I either sell it or list it up in my sale box.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get it. I don't know if it will ever be released in Chechnya or even Russia anyway, but maybe it will.

I have low expectations for the game though, it looks different to what the other Animal Crossing games were. I feel like Animal Crossing is supposed to be a game where you can do what you want at your own pace, but from what other people have said so far it seems like ACPC has left that road and has become a game where you have to get achievements to unlock things in the game, unlike in ACNL where you can get any item by asking friends or going to the stores.

The only way to find out is to play it myself, though. I'm waiting until release.

I created a new Apple ID on my IPhone and changed to Australia and I was able to download the app. I’m on level 16 right now. Finally got my favorite villager Punchy to join my campsite.
