Probably Wild World, even though I don't have it anymore, that was the game that got me into the series. My town was called "Animals" (original, right? ) but because I was like, seven, I spelt it "Anamils". Rip Anamils, GBNF To this day I'm still looking in all the game shops for another copy.

and you'll have the time of your life
My favorite animal crossing game is AC:GCN. Why? In AC:GCN, I like the villagers better. I enjoyed their dialogue better. I also like that I feel in less control of everything. I loved the randomness of it (Villagers moving in and out, Special visitors) I like to feel like a part of my villages, not control them.
I feel like AC:GCN has a special charm to it, and I can't quite explain it. Yea, I realize my opinions about it are probably clouded with nostalgia.. and that's okay

Wild World is my favorite. While it's not as polished as the other games and I'm bummed that we don't celebrate Bunny Day, Halloween and Toy Day, it has its own charm. It was my first Animal Crossing game and I always come back to it.
I think New Leaf just edges out City Folk for me in terms of the best game. I just think there were so many new features, such as the island, that got introduced that took Animal Crossing to a new level.
That said, City Folk was the game that properly got me into Animal Crossing. I always loved going to the City in-game!
