I was just curious, is there anyone else that works the night shift on here? If so, do you have your 3DS set for a different time or do you leave it as is? I work 23:00 to 07:00, which of course isn't exactly prime time for playing AC or other real time based games.. I'm not one to time travel in games, so it's kind of a big decision for me on whether I want to change the time or not. While I decide that, I'm also trying to decide how exactly I should change it if I do - if I should just go backwards or forwards twelve hours, or if adding or taking a few hours may be better for games that have events like AC.
I'd love to hear what other night shifters or late night players do! I know there is the town ordinance that can make everyone stay up later, but I have so many flowers and plants, that without being able to guarantee I can play everyday to water them all I don't want to change my ordinance.
For a few years post-college I worked closing shift delivering pizza on the weekend, at which point my internal clock turned upside down for a while. (wake up with just enough time to go to work, get off work at 3am, stay up and play video games, go to bed when the sun is about to rise.)
During that time it was very annoying trying to get things done during the normal waking hours of the day. I don't think I played much ACNL then, but if I did, I only shifted the hours slightly. I generally try to avoid TTing if I can and don't like seeing it sunny in my game while IRL it's dark out.

Makes sense. I don't like to time travel either, but my job is 44 to 48 hours or more a week, all night five days a week. It is a permanent situation, not temporary as I will be trying to adjust my schedule to nights for next year as well.
Because of the hours, we often have a lot of down time at night, mostly between the hours of 2 and 4. If you don't keep yourself doing something and just spend the time staring at a computer screen it can start to get tiring very quickly!
I wish I could play outside of work, but I never feel like I have much time. I'm usually sleeping all day then taking care of my family as soon as I'm up.
There was a former Staff member who had a similar work situation. What he chose to do is set his "town time", such as if it were in a different time zone. For example, if you have free time at work from 0200 to 0400, you could set you AC time 6 hours ahead. That way, when you turned it on, it would be 0800 to 1000 everyday in your town.
He didn't do any other time-traveling, and of course, if he missed a day, he missed one, but it allowed him to have a fairly regular play time without stressing real life obligations. I've found this to be rather similar to my current situation, as I live in England but deal with lots of people on Eastern or Central time in the U.S., or even Korea! It really does feel like time travel sometimes!

It would definitely be staying that way the extent of the time I'm on this schedule, so there really wouldn't be time traveling. I suppose if I moved to a different time zone, I'd be changing it all the same after all! I've missed a lot of days in game, no doubt about that.. especially since I've gotten this job, but it'd be nice to be able to pick it up and have everyone be awake.
It's definitely tough to communicate with those in other time zones sometimes, or to not have it seem like you're going between the past and future! Long ago when I first started at ACC I had a friend in Germany, and many friends on the opposite side of the Country. There was almost always at least a small time difference.
I love working midnights because there's not so much management, and people are way more relaxed. I just hate having to explain to people that, non, I cannot hang out at noon. That's like me asking you to chill at 3 a.m.

What if you say "Hi," to your friend on an airplane who's name is Jack?

Yes!! I love my shift, but sometimes people don't get it. Or I'll need to make an appointment and they want me to come in at like 10am, so I basically am just taking a nap instead of sleeping that night. ^^"
I don't mind time traveling, but since I can't do that (without repercussion) in Tomodachi Life, I have my 3DS clock set so that it will be daytime when I'm actually able to play.
Yes. I work 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. It’s nice and peaceful on this site during those times, but it sucks not a lot of people are online. I just feel bad because I sleep through the day sometimes and it’s not convenient to talk to my friend. :(
I don't work the night shift per se, but I work until 11pm (or later) most nights, and I often don't go to bed until 2am, give or take an hour, so I have my town set 3 hours back. If I kept it at normal time, I'd never get turnips on Sunday or any morning things, as I usually sleep until 10 or 11, so I play almost as if I'm ACC-3 instead of ACC-0. Little weird, but it works.

I worked 4p-230a for several years including when New Leaf came out and I had my clock set for 12 hours earlier than what it was, so the shops would be open when I played after work. I'm on a days schedule now, but I prefer afternoon/evening shifts. It's easier to get stuff done in the middle of the week when no one else is out and about.
my husband works 11pm to around 8am. i don't work currently so for us to be on the same schedule i stay up all night with him, most of the time playing animal crossing. i've always been a big time traveler so i just do my own thing.
I work graveyard now, but I didn't until mid 2019. Luckily for ACNH the shop seems to be 24 hours so no need to change anything. But when I worked late evenings for NL I had the Late Night ordinance going while I was still building my town so I could shop when I'm off work lol
Luckily for ACNH the shop seems to be 24 hours so no need to change anything. Thats great news because I work nights and shops are always closed for me. I would change the time but on my days off I try to stay up days. Its a mess!

i spent about a year working overnight. a few months ago i switched to second shift so now i only work until around midnight. it was super tiring but i actually liked working nights! for ac i just warped the time in my town ahead by about 8 hours so it would be morning in game when it was still very much nighttime irl.
is that true about the stores being open 24hr? that would be a huge plus for me!
I thought they said so in one of the trailers or the direct, that "you won't have to worry" because the store is open 24/7... maybe I misheard? It seemed like it went along with them talking about the hemisphere feature, so you can play anything in your real time when you want to.
I am slightly disappointed that ACNH's resident service was 24hrs, but goes back to regular hours after Timmy and Tommy opens their store.
I work 3rd shift at Disneyland Resort, but have since been furloughed because of the pandemic. One trick I would do is slightly offset my island's time so I have more time to shop / interact with my villagers.

Ive been on night shift for years but what I do is leave the time as normal, play when I work, and then flip my schedule when I'm off so I have time with my family which also means time to play during normal day time hours.
