Guide: Villager's Pics Trying to get a villager's pictures can be hard, but rewarding! This guide will give you some tips on how to befriend the animals in your town.
Talk to them often - The best way to build your friendship with an animal is to talk to them every day. 6-10 times a day is preferable. Don't go a long time (even as little as a week) without talking to them, or else they'll get sad and miss you. Sometimes when you talk to them, they'll ask you to do something! (See below)
Do whatever they ask - Every day, an animal may ask you to do something. This is a good way to build friendship. They might ask you to pick a fruit for them, deliver a gift, visit their house, or play hide-and-seek. Never say no, or they'll get upset. Giving them fruit - When they ask for fruit, always give them a perfect variant when possible. When you give them perfect fruit, your friendship grows quicker. Delivering gifts - Villagers can be lazy at times and often want you to deliver gifts for them. Don't open the gift, or else when you report back, they might get mad at you. Also, try to deliver it as soon as you can, or you may forget about it! Play Hide-and-Seek - Villagers sometimes want to play hide-and-seek. It can be frustrating to play, but the general rule is don't say no to villagers. If you find all 2 or 3 of the hiding villagers, you may be rewarded with his or her picture! If not, at least they like you more. Time Capsule - Sometimes, a villager asks you to bury a Time Capsule. Resist the urge to peek inside! Remember where you buried it, because the villager will ask you to dig it up later. They usually give you the item that was inside as a 'thank-you'. It might be his or her picture!
Send them letters - Villagers love letters. You should send at least one letter every day, preferably with a small gift (e.g. piece of fruit or seashell). Your letter should be one to two lines long. It doesn't matter what you say, its the length of the letter that counts.
When will they give you their picture?
i) As a reward for doing something they asked ii) In a Time Capsule iii) In their goodbye letter iiii) They'll ping you (exclamation mark over their head, and then run up to you) and say they have a gift for you. It could be their picture, but not all the time.
How do I know if I have high friendship? Villagers who have high friendship with you send you random letters in the mail, visit your house (even when you didn't invite them), give you nicknames, and randomly give you gifts!
Uchi, Normal, and Lazy villagers are the easiest to befriend. Peppy, Jock, and Smug are neutral. Cranky and Snooty are tough to befriend.
Once a villager gives you their picture, this means they really like you! You can display it in your house, to remember your friendship. They might give you their picture again later if you're still really good friends! You also get extra HHA points for a villager's picture in your house, as long as you and that villager have high friendship.

Question: I usually play everyday, but every once in awhile, I get super busy. (I'm a 20 year old with a full time job and social responibilities, and sometimes i lose track of it) sometimes I don't play for as much as 3 weeks, how much does that put back my progress?
It could affect it. If you don't mind Time travelling, though, you can make not of the date and time you last played and either start again on that day or go to the next day. If I can remember to make that note, that's what I do, or if I can't remember the date, but I'm certain of how long it's been since I played, I go a few days back before that week.

Bbykat51 @pastelruby If you lose track of your dates and are playing on your 3DS, you should be able to see your last play date on the Play Journal. Make sure it is on Daily Logs. It will at least give you a good idea of the date to set your AC:NL clock.
