So, I know most of us dread the idea of our favorite villagers leaving [ie I will do all I can to ensure Molly never leaves my town ] but I was a little curious, do any of you guys let villagers leave when they ping you?
Sometimes I like to picture my character as myself, and how I'd interact with the villagers in real life. If a friend of mine was telling me, as some villagers do, "Oh I'm going to some other town with opportunities for me" I'd respond something along the lines of "Great, wish you luck!". Yet, I find the responses in game too blunt, like "bye" or "see ya" x)
Come on, they're supposed to be my friends, right?
Time zone: PST (-3 ACC). I usually play 10pm - 2am ACC time.

I'll let villagers move out unless I really like them. There are so many villagers in the game and I'd like to see a lot of them. I have a few that I won't let leave but I'm fine with letting the rest go.
Let's go Gophers! Ski-U-Mah!
Sorry, I don't accept random FCRs.
This is something I really struggle with, because I like having new and different villagers moving in and out of my town as I feel it helps to keep it feeling fresh and new. But currently I've gotten to a point where I don't really want to let any of my villagers go. But my town is starting to feel so stale with the same faces. I know I'm going to have to let someone move. But who???? The decisions are unbearable
Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but memories...
I generally let them go after getting their pics. Sometimes I will get super attached to someone and keep them for a while.
If you give a Mouse a cookie, she's going to ask for a glass of milk
When you give her the milk, she'll probably ask you
for a straw. When she's finished, she'll ask for a napkin
I am desperately trying to get every single villager out of my current town I don’t like any of them but I love everything else about the town. I’ve had a few ping me to leave and on three of them, I accidentally hit “please stay” and then today I told someone to go and then they changed their mind. I need to just walk around until someone ping someone me that they are moving out, and then tt to that day so they can’t change their mind. I want my dreamies but no one is leaving ugh
beearedee, you can use amiibo cards to expedite the process.
I let villagers leave all of the time. I love rotating new villagers, popular and unpopular alike, into my town. It keeps things fresh and allows me to develop relationships with an array of characters. That's probably why I don't have a steadfast favorite!
I realize that most people won't see this but i usually say they can leave cause i don't really have any great animals but every time I say they can leave they always respond something along the lines of they think i want to get rid of them and now they are staying forever.
If I'm still playing when the time comes around, yeah, I would let a villager go. The game is more enjoyable for me when you keep meeting new animals. That's something I anticipate about New Leaf--in GC it's always the the 15th villager who moves out. In NL, it could be anyone.
If I really liked a villager I'd want them to stick around, but I imagine the duration of time would lessen as the years went by.
A boy's mother baked cupcakes for his birthday. He went away to live
with animals. The cupcakes went stale, but she writes to him every day.
I've got certain villagers that I'll persuade to stay, but otherwise I'll let them leave so I can meet new villagers. Lately however, whenever I choose to let a villager leave, they always end up changing their mind, leaving me with no choice in the matter...
Yes. New Leaf makes it easy to keep your favorites around, especially compared to previous games, and I get tired of having the same animals all the time. So I like to let some of my favorites go from time to time, just to keep things interesting. But with that said, there are a few that I want to keep forever if I can.
