Hey guys,

So I'm thinking of getting a new console because I only have a 2ds and feel I can't get the most out of the new update.  My only concern is... if I change to say 3ds, or xl when I put my game in the new device will everything still be there? I know data is saved to the cartridge but more in terms of the update what do I do with my SD card from my 2ds? Does that go into my new device or will that mess things up? Or do I just do the update again on my device like I've never done it before? (Like I did the first time round on my 2ds) .

Finally, have I blown this out of context and I simply just put my game in and carry on LOL?!

Really want a new console but don't want to spend the £££ and lose my town but on the other side I feel I can get better game play with a more up to date console ... (hopefully not if I've lost everything though)

If anyone can give me any advice I'd really appreciate it !

From what I understand, if you do a data transfer via the console's settings, all info will be transferred from one SD card to the other, including any save data, update data, other game data and even the pictures you took with the camera.

Don't quote me on this, though, as I've only ever done a data transfer from 3DS XL to New 3DS XL.

That's the only reason I would be buying a new console, (so I can use the cards and figures) I know the 2ds isn't the best looking but it does

The job just fine and I don't play in the 3D anyway, I suppose if I do that instead I don't run the risk
