Many in the Community have noticed a clock on the bottom right corner of ACC that is counting down to noon today. Some theories about what it could be were proposed
here, and the Staff really appreciated that the countdown clock had even been noticed because we'd added it without informing the Members.
To explain the significance of this time, we first need to give you some background information. In the US, the series we now all know and love began on September 15th, 2002 with the release of Animal Crossing: Gamecube. It's hard to believe, but that was 5167 days ago - that's more than 14 years! Some of the more extreme time travelers may have also noticed that the latest possible date you can set the game to is December 31st, 2030.
What does this all have to do with the countdown clock? Well, if you do the math,
noon today is exactly the halfway point of Animal Crossing: Gamecube! That's right - 2030 seemed so far in the future, but we're halfway there.
ACC is celebrating the halfway point with a 2 week long event. The event will include the following:
• 3 different AC:GC themed contests, including a Sign Board Design Contest, AC:GC Pattern Contest, and Guess the Fuzzy Image Contest.
• AC:GC themed weekly polls. If some of our recent weekly polls have confused you, that's because they were references to AC:GC exclusive features. Curious about them? Hop over to the
AC:GC General Board to ask. All of the weekly polls during the event will also be AC:GC themed.
• A social media campaign on our
Facebook and
Twitter accounts. We will be featuring interesting threads on the
AC:GC General Board. If you want your thread shared with over 50 thousand people, this is your chance! If you do post about the event on facebook or twitter, make sure you use the hashtag #HalfwayThroughACGC so we see it.
• SPT member and a special helper for this event,
DaBraxMan, will be streaming Animal Crossing: Gamecube live on his
Twitch Channel multiple times during the event. If you are unfamiliar with AC:GC, come watch and see what it is like.
• In order to help players, we have created a brand new
AC:GC Tree Guide and
Turnip Guide. Other AC:GC guides will also be refreshed and updated during the next two weeks.
These are just some of the things that will be happening over the next two weeks. As guides get updated, and new threads or competitions appear for this event, we will add more posts to this announcement. So, please flag this thread if you want to be kept informed.

We hope that everyone enjoys this event and that veterans of the game enjoy the second half of Animal Crossing: Gamecube as much as they did the first half. Even though it is over 14 years old, it still has a large following. If you haven't played it before, consider trying it: the game is relatively inexpensive, and you might be able to play it without any new hardware if you currently own a Wii. There are aspects of Animal Crossing: GameCube which are still unique to that game and can't be found in later versions.
