I only just recently came back on ACC after not being here for about a year or so and have been involved in a giveaway.

After making markup I had remembered and realised that the codes for centering text are broken - either that or something happened to them a while back during an update or something.

That relates to the codes to show markup as well, so I can't show markup for people to copy and paste in a post. -> [b[/b]]

Am I being dumb or is there currently no way to do this anymore? I tried using the code provided in the Markup Magic sticky but this no longer works as expected. I also tried to alter it to make it work which I did, however the text as all in a block quote.

I know I can use spoilers and I have been doing that, but I don't like using them as they're annoying to work with. I'd like to know if there's a way to do it, and if not, it's something that can be fixed soon?

The closest thing you can do now to center text with a code is to use [spoiler][bq][/spoiler]text[/bq][/spoiler] . Like the old days it still centers text, and with more block quote tags you can push the text further out. It's not perfect however, because it makes the text show up in italics like this:

"Hello!"

What has changed is that now all tags must be closed. That means every [markup] doesn't work without a [/markup], and the tag to remove the italics in the old center code now does not work. So the proper way to show your markup now would be typing [b[b][/b]][/b[b][/b]] to produce [b][/b].

I've actually started working on a new markup guide that I'll hopefully get out this summer, because the old one definitely looks really confusing now.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the tip. However I'll probably just have to stick to using spoilers because I don't want the whole thing to be in a block quote. Thanks for letting me know though!

I'm just picky with templates which is the reason I asked about it. When Updaters are updating the Outstanding Order list on the giveaway thread it's obviously easy to just copy and paste the orders from the last post but you have to do it all individually with spaces and spoilers. And I prefer to use those because I feel it looks messy when it's all at the side.

I don't really mind that much though but it would be good to see the centering markup fixed if that's possible, or to implement a new way to do it.

I don't recall there ever being markup for centering text, but I don't see why we shouldn't add some. ([center][/center] and [centre][/centre] would probably be the best options.) It would be a relatively trivial thing to do.

There wasn't markup, it was a set of stuff with color, blockquote, etc. That made all the text shift to the right slightly and you just entered it multiple times to make it move further.

It was the code I posted but with an [/i] after the [bq] tag to make it not in italics. Unfortunately the update that made it so all tags have to be in open-close pairs made that no longer work.

A [center] tag would be awesome!
