You know what I like?  Using my imagination to make my old games new again.  This is the diary of Nysa from Funkytwn, my ACGC game that I created 2 years ago, played for one day, and didn't pick up again until this past Saturday.  To make the playthrough more fun, I have been writing personal diary entries to keep my imagination running.

Now, I'd love to share that with you.  I hope you enjoy seeing an old game through my eyes.  I'll try to go day-by-day, and post a new entry daily.  I've posted this on another thread, but the thread has somewhat died along with the rest of that section of ACC.    So hopefully it'll entertain some individuals here!

A couple of things about this thread:
- I'll try to keep them from being too wordy, but still interesting.
-Any responses to comments made will be made below any new updates, on the same post, to keep from flooding the board.
-I would like to ask that any commenters limit themselves to one post between updates.  Since I plan for them to be daily, I don't think this will be too much of an issue.
-Photos might be attached in later entries.
-No UCs will be used, only me-specific codes that friends who play ACGCN might use to send me things game-to-game.  Photo evidence will be supplied should I decide to use their code.
-I do time-travel, as I only get to play on certain weekends.  I play day-by-day, though, and will update to reflect that.

Without further ado.......

Dear Diary,
Today, I returned to Funkytwn.  It’s been a long time (120 weeks according to Rosie), and I am glad to be back.  The villagers seemed excited to see me as well.  We have a new villager, Mitzi Kitt, who moved into the acre catty-cornered to mine.  She lives right by the river.

Totakeke, a traveling musician I met while abroad, made his first appearance in Funkytwn tonight, much to my delight.  It had taken quite a bit of courage for me to ask him, a complete stranger at the time, to visit my new hometown and put on a small concert.  Pierce Eye, Murphy Ursa, Anchovy the Sparrow, Robin Blue, and Rosie Belle all showed, with Mitzi and Chevre Buck being the only townies who could not make it.  Totakeke was a real hit, and promised to come by again soon to play his music.

Not all is at peace in Funkytwn, though.  Weeds have overrun the town.  Nook still has a shack for a store.  My house is newly renovated, and I was smacked with the bill as soon as I stepped foot into Nook’s Cranny earlier, looking to purchase some tools.  Our museum is pathetically empty.

I have a lot to do to make up for my prompt absence.  I haven’t been here in almost two years.  My study-away program, while doing me a great deal of service, seems to have negatively impacted the town.  Time to make up for my time gone.

Edits:  Proofreading and rewording the beginning note, and a failed HTML tag.

Sorry, future entries won't start out with a note.  But in order to keep my thread from spamming the boards and continually being bumped up and possibly getting in trouble for flaming, I will post the next two entries in the same post, so I can catch up with today's date.

Dear Diary,
Last night (rather, early this morning…), I searched the town, hoping that Wisp the ghost might drop by.  I have heard legends of him; how he randomly appears in the wee hours of the morning, seeking 5 spirits that escaped his possession.  Supposedly, he offers to do away with all the weeds in your town if you help him.

Sadly, this yielded no results, and I spent the day tiredly picking weeds.  At least the town looks presentable again.

Today, we added to our village once again.  Dotty the Rabbit moved in at the base of the cliffs on the east side of town.  She seems nice enough, though her house is a bit… Strange.

Per Blather’s request and Tortimer’s permission, I have opened a deal with the Faraway Museum.  In exchange for the identification of any fossils I might dig up around here, they are allowed to send archeological teams to the less-inhabited parts of Funkytwn to explore.  They have rights to anything they deem an archeological treasure.  Everyone in town seems fairly excited to see where this leads.  This could be a big publicity break for our small town.  We all would love to see the place grow.

I just got done running a few errands for some of the villagers.  They all seem to have forgiven me for disappearing for so long without contact.  I’m glad they understand.  That program was a big deal for me.  It’s nice to have the support of your best friends when pursuing your endeavors.

April 18, 2016

Dear Diary,
I have a bad case of the Mondays, but I still tried to get some things done in town today.  More properly identified fossils came in, and I added them to the Museum’s collection, alongside some bugs and fish I was able to find.

Chevre buried an NES game in Nook’s acre today.  Why, I’m not sure.  It’s not like it was a horrible game based off a sci-fi movie – it was Donkey Kong!  I loved that game growing up, so I swiftly ran to the game’s rescue.  At least she had enough sense to bury it inside the case, so the cartridge was readily playable as soon as I popped it into my old NES.  My significant other visited from home today as well, so he joined me in playing a few old vs games.

I got stung 3 times in my search for a spider to add to the museum, and didn’t catch even one bee to show for it.  So much for that.  My fishing game was off today, as well.  I managed to catch all manner of plant life and trash, but not many fish.

I also have been doing so many errands for the villagers that, for once, nobody seemed to have much of anything going on.

Katrina visited tonight.  Naturally, her fortune meant nothing.  “Some good things will happen, and some bad things will happen.  That is all I can tell you.”

Yeah, thanks.  Glad I paid 50 bells to be told that life is going to happen.

Dear Diary,
Today was a vastly better day than yesterday.  It started off with a promotional letter from Tom Nook.  I suppose my small daily loan payments and shopping sprees were enough to provide him with the resources to expand, as he was closed today!  I’m excited to see where his shack-store goes.  Since Murphy and I were talking about that recently, I decided to shoot him a letter to express my excitement over this new development.

Another villager moved in today.  Her name is Purrl Whisk.  I wonder what it is about our town that’s attracting all these cats and birds.  (Not that I mind much, a new friend is a new friend, regardless of species.)  She seemed a bit stuffy, but I bet in time we’ll grow on each other.

At this point, I have a steady stream of identified fossils coming in from the Faraway museum.  I’m already starting to see duplicates, which is great.  It’s providing a lot of information about our town!  Mostly, I see a lot of T-Rex fossils.  I suppose this was a good hunting and breeding ground for them, at some point.  I’d love to have a fossilized T-Rex in my house.  That’s my next personal goal.

I ran a lot of errands for the villagers today as well, which I almost never mind doing.  It gives me my daily exercise.  I know that when the summer comes, I won’t be wanting to run around as much, but for now I’m going to enjoy the weather as much as possible.

I also wrote a bunch of letters today.  Most of them were to our new villagers, greeting them and formally welcoming them to our quiet town.  I also wrote a letter to Anchovy, who earlier admitted that he was my “biggest fashion fan,” which had me blushing.  I never gave my sense of style much thought, but apparently he loves it.  I went and picked out a unisex shirt I had hanging up in my closet, and packaged it up with a letter attached, thanking him again for his kind words.

Dear Diary,
Nook’s Cranny is now officially Nook ‘n’ Go!  It’s a pretty good-looking supermarket; definitely an upgrade from that tiny shack he used to own.  Nook has traded in his blue apron for a pinstripe supermarket uniform, which fits the entire “quick, quality shopping” vibe I get as soon as I step into the store.  Naturally, I splurged a bit on a new wallpaper, a potted plant, a guitar, and some flowers.  Oops.  At least I have more raffle tickets now.

I met a chicken named Goose the Chicken, who was wearing a rose-patterned dress. He promptly asked me if I’d like to go on a run by the dump, as that’s his favorite place to go.  I’m just as confused as everyone else.  This eccentric fellow is my new neighbor, though.  He moved in about 2 feet from Mitzi’s property.  I’ll do my best to get along with him.  Maybe his difference grows on you?

(I might be a bit jealous that he wears that dress better than I could ever hope to.  Also, his house has got the best interior design I’ve seen in any of my neighbors yet).

Anchovy is apparently not only a fashion-conscious sparrow, but a hoarder as well.  I picked up four different people’s Gameboys from him today.  FOUR.  I mean, I’m a massive fan of the Pokemon GBA games myself, but come on, man.

April 20th is a special holiday for me.  While studying away, I joined a sorority whose founder’s day is on April 20th!  So in honor of that, and all the girls I befriended, I spent a LOT of time in the Able Sister’s, creating all kinds of Tri Sigma apparel.  I’m pleased with the results, and hope the fashions catch on.  I’d love to paint the town purple.

The villagers have been very hyped-up about a particular buzz topic lately:  The “fossil fish” who hasn’t changed its shape in millions of years.  As an avid fisher, this of course has piqued my interest, and I traveled to the nearest city’s library to research the creature.  My research didn’t turn up much fact, but quite a lot of speculation and legend.  Some say it’s a living fossil.  A fish made of stone.  Some call it a phantom fish because everyone claims to have seen it, but nobody has any proof it’s still around.

What I know for sure, though, is that it can only be found in salt water, it comes nearer to shore when its raining, and it’s called a Coelacanth.  I must find it.

DaBraxMan, thank you for your kind words.

Dear Diary,
Finally, I got some replies to the letters I sent!  Dotty and Mitzi both graced my inbox with some very kind letters, both of which came attached to packages!  Dotty’s contained a rose shirt, which I gladly added to my growing collection of outfits (I’m sure Anchovy would approve).  Mitzi granted me a green counter.  As nice as it was, I just don’t have room for it in my house.  I may or may not be using some of my excess fossil finds to construct my own T-Rex skeleton…

Today’s theme of conversations in Funkytwn was interior design.  Mitzi and I discussed Feng Shui at length, and Robin oh-so-kindly gifted me a bonsai to help me make my house more home-like!  She’s such a good friend.

I also finally managed to pay off my home loan, thanks to a LOT of evening fishing for the elusive barred knifejaw and red snapper.  If I never see another Sea Bass again, it’ll be too soon…

Just for kicks, I asked Tom what the stalk market looked like today.  I didn’t catch Joan on Sunday to buy any turnips, but when I heard that they were going for 808 bells a pop, I realized that this next Sunday, I needed to track her down.

I finished off the day with redecorating the house and writing thank you letters to Dotty and Mitzi.  I included a little gift with each one.  Why not keep the gift-train moving?

Dear Diary,
Today started off with another letter from Tom Nook, letting us all know that his store would be closed today for remodeling once again.  As happy as I am for him, it worries me that he’s spending so much.  I just barely paid off my loan, and while it wasn’t a sum to sneeze at, I don’t know that it would be enough to expand that store again just yet.  I’m sure he has bills to pay and I know he has a family to feed…

I’ll try not to let it bother me, though.  I hope he knows what he’s doing.

Today was a wonderful day for paleontology in Funkytwn.  Our Museum saw the completion of the Mammoth skeleton today, which had Blathers all but leaping for joy.  True to his nature, he immediately jumped into some facts about the creature, which he pulled effortlessly from his mind as though he were reading from a textbook.  He also admonished mankind for being the cause of the extinction of many animals, like the mammoth.  He apologized, but I assured him that his rambling was more than welcomed, and I agreed that humans can truly be thoughtless and selfish at times.

The Faraway Museum has discovered 6 T-Rex torsos in my town now, along with many dinosaur eggs, presumably baby tyrannosauruses.  It seems that millions of years ago, Funkytwn was a breeding ground for these giant carnivores.  I love learning about our prehistoric history!

Their excavation project has give our town some notoriety by now, and we’re seeing the population grow almost daily.  Bob Cat (yep, that’s his name) moved in early this morning.  His simplistic nature matches his name.  He’s my acre-neighbor, and I think we’ll get along fairly well.

Saharah, the famous carpet trader, also made a stop in our town today.  You can bet I jumped on the chance to see some of her work.  Sadly, with Nook being gone, I couldn’t quite buy extra carpets to trade in as Saharah requested.  Maybe next time I’ll be a bit more lucky.

In my usual errand-running, Pierce let it slip that he was interested in knowing what gifts girls liked.  I pestered him a bit, which had his blue feathers turning purple with the bright red blush that took over his face.  I recommended he get the girl flowers, as that’s always a welcome gift no matter how far into the courting scene you are.  Seems that Tom Nook will see an increase in the sale of flowers, when he opens up again.

Seems I got a bit too caught-up in real life yesterday and forgot to post.  I'll have today's entry up later tonight!

Dear Diary,
Rain, rain… Please stay!  I was so excited to see rain in the forecast today.  The Coelacanth is said to come close to shore on days like this.  I couldn’t wait to get started on fishing, but of course I had some daily tasks to complete, and I wound up finding my mission interrupted time and time again.

Nook’s upgraded store is MUCH better than the previous supermarket.  His inventory has at least doubled, and he seemed to be happy to be out of that pinstripe outfit that truthfully did not suit him one bit.

He was thrilled to see me, and I quickly found out why.  He informed me that I could expand my house once again, if I wanted to.  We called up one of his good friends, who turned out to be the contractor who renovated my house while I was studying abroad.  The friendly otter suggested I go for a basement, so I had more storage.  Storage is a BIG thing for me, as I like to keep organized, so naturally I chose that route.  I’m sure it’ll be one heck of a bill, but I’m excited nonetheless.  The HRA also doesn’t grade what’s in your basement, so I’ll be able to throw things in there as I see fit.

Actually…Let’s be honest.  I just want a place to store my T-Rex.

I finished my daily to-do’s, but all the animals seemed to have problems they wanted me to solve.  Bob left his watch at Pierce’s, who lent it to Robin.  Anchovy thought he lent his organizer to Mitzi Goose wanted his organizer back from Purrl, but it had exchanged hands two or three times before Robin finally came forth with it  (ugh).  To make matters worse, Goose spontaneously went missing for around an hour.  I searched every inch of Funkytwn for him for so long, I was afraid I wouldn’t have the energy to fish later.  That tiny little errand wasted more than an hour of my day.

Even Copper at the police station stopped me and asked for a favor, which was rare.  He informed me that the 25th would mark the start of their “Bust Illegal Parkers campaign.”  This actually annoyed me a bit, because I clearly do not own any sort of vehicle, and I’m not sure anyone in this town does.  It’s small enough and underdeveloped to the point that getting around on foot is actually quicker than any sort of vehicle.  Nonetheless, I smiled and agreed to spread the word.

Finally, I got to go fishing.  The red snappers were plentiful today, and I had full pockets in no time.  I kept going, though.  I didn’t leave that beach until I caught a coelacanth.  I was out there for 3 hours in the pouring rain, long after the sun sank down into the hills.

Physically and mentally, I am drained entirely.  I returned home drenched from head to toe, my arms and legs are weak from today’s activities, but my spirits are soaring.  The museum now has a coelacanth on display, which is attractive nation-wide attention.  We have news crews on their way right now to confirm what we Funkians already know to be true.  That bill Tom Nook will eventually slap me with for the new basement?  I’ll welcome it, just so I can lighten up my pockets just a bit.  Between the rewards for such a find and the money I’ve made from marketing away all those knifejaw and snapper, I have more cash than I know what to do with.

The best part?  I have a second one here at home.  I’m working with some officials tomorrow to discuss his fate, but I’m aiming to be allowed to keep him here at the house.  Fingers crossed!  I can’t think of a better fishing trophy than an endangered species thriving within a special tank inside my home.

Totally fell asleep last night without uploading this.  I'll eventually catch up.  Lol.
DaBraxMan, thank you!  I mean, there's gotta be SOME reason for everyone to move in, other than just "I heard about this town and there's nothing here so I'm moving here anyways."
sbugg, I'm happy to hear you find it entertaining!

Haha, it's so annoying when your villagers send you on a wild goose chase for an item. Then you end up on a goose chase looking for Goose. Villagers seem to find places to hide from you in your town a lot more in this game than any other game; maybe because the towns are bigger than any other entry in the series? Or maybe it has to do with the acre system.

Also, congrats on finding not one, but TWO coelacanths yesterday!

Dear Diary,
I absolutely love my new basement.  It’s far bigger than I was expecting and offers more than enough room for the things I don’t really use, but aren’t ready to get rid of!  It also turned out to be just under 50,000 bells, so naturally I paid it off directly.  Next, we’re expanding the size of the ground floor to match the size of that basement.  I feel like I’m starting to live in a mansion.  This old place has come a long way from the tiny hut I moved into all those years ago.

It seems my Tri Sigma designs are finally catching on – I caught Goose wearing the Sigma Flag design today.  The purple suited him well!  I myself tried out my Sigma Skull design.  Sure, it may seem a bit dark, but it means something to me.  And I feel pretty cool wearing it.

Speaking of my sorority, one of my sisters sent me a letter today.  It appears she’s considering moving to Funkytwn after graduating!  I would love to have another human in this town.  It’s been so weird being away from them.  Once you live around-the-clock with 80 girls for nearly 2 years, having your own place is a strange thing.

Nook had an axe in stock today, so I snatched it up.  Our town is overridden with trees in some areas, while other areas are barren entirely of green life.  I’d like to even it out a bit, if Mayor Tortimer gives me the okay.  I’ve set up an appointment with him next week to discuss the terms of my environmental permissions.  He seemed pretty intrigued when I brought the idea forth, so here’s hoping everything goes well.  In the meantime, I’ll keep planting flowers around my home, and collecting more axes.

My day ended hanging out with Anchovy.  I’m sure if I ever mentioned this before, but his house is my favorite place to visit.  He has a casino in his actual house.  Of course, we play with fake money, but there’s nothing I love more than a good slot machine and unlimited funds.  He also fed me some great spaghetti.  You could say today was solid.

(added later that night...)

I FORGOT TO BUY TURNIPS AGAIN.

sbugg, thanks!  It really did take forever.  I've never pulled up so many darn boots out of the water before.  There's just something about that fish in ACGC that makes me nervous when I'm looking for it.  I don't feel that way when fishing in ACNL.  Might be one of my favorite parts of this game.

Dear Diary,
Wouldn’t you know it, all this publicity over the archeological finds and the living fossil in our museum have finally attracted a major celebrity.  As though she was drawn in by the allure of breaking the illegal parking laws, Gracie’s beautiful red convertible was parked on an empty lot in the acre next to my town.  I’m not sure how I feel about her calling Funkytwn a hick town, though.  It may not be the most advanced civilization, but it’s far from “nowheresville.”  She also implied I appeared to be a male wearing women’s clothing.  Still, I agreed to help her clean her car, if only for a good excuse to touch it.

It was raining, so why she had the top down AND wanted someone to clean her car is beyond me.  But hey, who am I to tell her how to live her life?

She gave me a top I saw someone toss out in the dump the other day.  I’ve decided I’m not too fond of Gracie the Giraffe.  My clothes could probably compete with hers, anyways.

Within the same acre on a different empty lot, I found a new house I’ve never seen before.  It turns out that sometime late last night, a boar named Boris made himself at home, drawn in by the appeal of the museum.  Despite being rather grouchy, he seemed like an interesting addition to the town.  Maybe I’ll catch him working at the museum sometime soon.  I’m sure Blathers is eager to hire someone to help out with the bug exhibits.

The renovations to my house are coming along nicely.  I can’t wait until it’s finished and I can finally have space to move around.  I asked Tom Nook to go on ahead and open up an account on the bank based on the approximate cost of construction, as I still have far too many bells filling my pockets from that evening of fishing and all the extra fossils that keep coming in.  The Faraway Museum has begun paying slightly less for the T-Rex fossils, since there seem to be so many of them laying around, but I’m still raking in more money than I can handle at the moment.  While this isn’t the worst problem to have, these bells do get heavy, and I’ve never been one to hoard money.

Oh, and you can bet I reported that rude giraffe to the authorities before coming home tonight.  I think I heard the tow truck pass by not too long ago.  Maybe that’ll teach her some humility.

Not too shabby for a “hick town.”

Dear Diary,
Finally, I’ve heard back from the Funkytwn Department of Feral Animal Conservation regarding my coelacanth.  They’re going to allow me to keep it, provided I allow bi-weekly visits from their marine biology research specialists who want to analyze the little guy’s behavior!  To say that I am ecstatic would be an understatement.  I suppose now I need to start thinking of a name for him.

Funkytwn’s fame continues to draw in new residents.  We aren’t such a tiny town anymore, it seems! Today’s new neighbor is a squirrel named Blaire, whom Goose was eager to introduce me to.  I can’t say I was too impressed with her, especially when I heard her sneer “I’d hate to have that name” to Goose after introducing myself.  Goose might like her quite a bit, but personally I wouldn’t mind seeing her leave.

Despite it being such a good day for me, everyone seemed to be in an off mood today.  No matter when I came to call on Anchovy, he was angry and expressed a desire to be left alone.  Pierce seemed down in the dumps all day, but never voiced why.  Mitzi was, for lack of any better words, very catty and snarky today, which is so very unlike her.  For example, when she asked me what her favorite color was (pink, obviously), she said something to the tune of “Congrats!  Have a garbage can.”  I can’t help but feel she was attempting to imply something with that, though I can’t imagine what.  We write letters back and forth all the time and I visit her daily.  I’m not sure what I’ve done to deserve this.

Bob got onto me for not wanting to sell a Perfect Painting I planned to donate to the museum.
Chevre all but threatened me to stay away from Nook’s during his flooring sale on the 29th.
Murphy was – never mind.  That’s normal.
Even Blathers was sluggish and short-worded today.  I hope whatever has affected everyone passes soon.

Who wants to help me name the fish?
sbugg, I have no idea.  I suppose a lot of determination to annoy/anger people who are poorer than her goes a long way.

Dear Diary,
Now that I have several axes stocked back, I started on refining the land around my house, as allowed to by Funkytwn laws.  The trees are so thick, I can barely see out of the window of my newly-expanded home, and that’s just not going to do.  I managed to clear two cedars out, so I went to Nook’s and purchased two cedar saplings.  If you chop down a tree, you should be willing to plant another elsewhere to make up for it.  At least, that’s my philosophy.

A charming little bear named Bluebear moved into the empty plot next to Chevre today.  Annoyingly, though, most of the village was so preoccupied with the upcoming sale that nobody noticed our new resident!  I felt just awful for her to receive such a dull welcome, so I wrote her a welcome letter and offered to help her start a garden.

I’m starting to think this sale of Nook’s is going to be more of a disaster than he’s expecting.  Everyone has become so much less neighborly to each other, and I can’t even begin to count the number of rude glares I’ve seen thrown around.  I’d like our nice, quiet, happy town back…

Also, I’m almost certain Pierce and his girlfriend (his “honey” as he always liked to refer to her) have broken up, and that might have been why he was so down yesterday.  His flowers around his house have gone unpicked for quite a while, and today he mentioned needing a new catchphrase to “impress the ladies.”  I’m sure he’ll be okay, but I wish he would talk to me about what happened.  I would like to be there for my friends.

I’m not sure when it started, but Copper, the chief of police, and I have begun talking on the daily.  I’ve even turned the police station into a daily destination without really noticing until Rosie commented about it.  He’s just good company, I suppose.  I didn’t realize I was doing that.  It’s not a weird thing, is it?

Dear Diary,
It’s been sorta slow around here lately. Dotty and I went fishing for a majority of the day.  I know she’s not a big fan of fishing, so I hoped this would change her mind.  I’m not sure she had as much fun as I did, though.

I also received news that the museum completed their stegosaurus skeleton, so we stopped by before heading our separate ways to look at it.  Blathers was absolutely thrilled as he could be.

Copper and I have been talking a lot about Totakeke lately.  I think Copper might be a closet hardcore fan, though he goes to great lengths to hide it.  I think it’s hilarious to hear this police chief talk about listening to Totakeke’s “jams” at his “bachelor pad.”

Boris sold me some cherry tree seeds today, as well.  They were ridiculously overpriced, but I’m eager to see more than just pears in this town!  Here’s hoping that they grow.  Having a cute little cherry tree next to my house in the springtime in the future years would be absolutely wonderful!  I told him that if he came into possession of any more exotic fruit seeds, I would be his first customer.

Short entry, sorry about that... Today's been a long day.

Dear Diary,
Today was another slow day, mostly, which was very coincidental because my mom sent me a letter this morning reminding me to take things a day at a time.  I’ve always been more of a laid-back kind of person, but that study away program made me feel like I had to be doing something at all hours of the day.  Heeding her advice, I dedicated my day doing odd jobs for the villagers.

Funkytwn had a strange visitor today though, who interrupted my runs while I was visiting Anchovy down by the beach.  A white seagull was washed up on the beach, completely unconscious!  When I finally got him to come to, he introduced himself as Gulliver, and quickly spun a long tale about falling off his ship during a storm.  He seemed a little strange, but I humored him in listening before calling for help.  There’s a hospital about 15 miles down the road, so we arranged to have him stay there at least one night before he returned to sea.  In return, he gave me an exotic artifact – a Chinese lioness.

It looks pretty awesome next to my T-Rex skeleton, I have to admit.

This wasn’t my only out-of-the-ordinary observation I made today, though.  While I was picking up a handkerchief from Goose, I noticed Mitzi and Bob talking, and seeming oddly close.  When I spoke to her later that day, she mentioned that today had been “just perfect!”, though she wouldn’t tell me why.  Needless to say, Dotty and I are on the case.  We can’t just let any old cat pick up our dear friend!

It may just be my imagination, but I’m fairly sure that Blaire shadowed me almost all day.  Unlike the other animals, she didn’t seem interested in staying in just one part of town.  Even in acres where nobody lived and it was just forest, sometimes I caught glimpses of her dark fur through the trees.  However, when nearly the whole village swarmed Nooks for his 2 pm flooring sale, I didn’t catch a glimpse of her at all, despite the fact that just yesterday she was bragging about how she would be first in line to buy all the carpets at his sale, and then resell them for a slightly higher price.

I hope she leaves soon.  She’s still rude, and now she’s acting weird.

Dear Diary,
Since today is the end of the month, that means it was raffle day!  I had 15 raffle tickets, which meant 3 chances at one of the three prizes.  I crossed my fingers for the NES game, but I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.

The very first ball gave me the second-place prize:  a samurai suit.  While a bit too big for me, it looks rather dignified in my home, so I think I’ll keep it.  You know, for good luck or whatever.  I’ve never won a raffle or anything of the sort before, so I can’t say I’m really disappointed even if I wound up walking out without the NES game.

I quickly discovered a big downside to these monthly raffles, though:  my pockets filled up pretty darn fast while doing my daily routine.  I’m glad I decided to get that basement, because now I truly have a use for it beyond displaying weird/cool artifacts and storing my axes.

Also, today I found Tortimer wandering around the river near Purrl’s.  Apparently, inspired by my desire to improve the environment of Funkytwn, he began to take recommendations from other townsfolk.  There’s been almost unanimous demand for a third bridge across the river.  While I agree that our river could use another crossing point, the river by Purrl’s is within another acre of a bridge, and there are better places for one.  I suggested he look upstream, above the waterfall.  Here’s hoping he takes my advice!

Speaking of my environmental activities, I noticed today that my cherry tree was beginning to sprout!  I’m so excited.  Finally, we’ll have something other than pears!

DaBraxMan, thank you so much!

I know the feeling. There's an item at the raffle you really want... and you win a DIFFERENT item instead... I wanted a Cabana armchair yesterday from the raffle, and I ended up with a classic hutch or something like that. Oh well; there's always a next time.

Also, raffle days (and renovation days) are sometimes kinda annoying, since you can't buy or sell anything on those days. I always end up with a big pile of stuff by my house by the end of the day. Stuff that would have been sold had Nook's store been open.

Dear Diary,
It’s May first, and that means it’s time for the windsocks to come out!  Maybe I’m a bit strange, but one of my favorite things about the beginning of May is all of the creative windsocks that people make to represent their families.

May 1st also signifies another wonderful day of the year:  Spring Cleaning Day!  I spent a good hour or so at least cleaning out my shelves and basement.  I may have only had it for a few days, but the basement filled up fast with junk.  Tom Nook was eager to buy, and I had a quick use for those extra bells.  I didn’t want to miss out on the stalk market this week, so I tracked down Joan early this morning to buy 100 turnips.  114 bells a piece seems a bit high, but here’s hoping I’ll turn a good profit!

As if today wasn’t a busy enough day already with the setting up of the windsocks and spring cleaning, I realized we had a new neighbor move down by the beach!  Her name is Hazel Spice, and she seemed fairly nice.  I didn’t get a chance to talk long, though, as she was busy moving in and I was busy running errands.  I did catch Dotty helping her move things out of a moving van, though, so I imagine they go back.  I’ll have to remember to ask her later.

Per Funkytwn tradition, Mayor Tortimer was wandering about the square with special gifts for all who participated in Spring Cleaning Day.  Today’s gift was a dump model, which gave me a bit of a laugh.

It’s been a real solid day.  The rain was no match for my high spirits all day, and I ended on a good note by donating some new fish to the local museum.  I can’t wait for summer, I’ve heard that’s the best time for fishing!

sbugg, I absolutely agree.  It was SUCH a pain to have SO MUCH in my pockets that I jut couldn't do anything about.  I didn't mind the samurai suit too much, since it's considered a lucky item and for once in my life, I'm paying attention to feng shui.

Dear Diary,
Since buying about 200 turnips from Joan yesterday, I decided to spend some time researching trends in the stalk market.  After all, I’d like to get a general idea of when it’s best to sell and when it’s best to wait.

Judging from my research, the fact that today’s prices started out at 119 bells per turnip tells me I’m in for a roller coaster week, with not much profit in my future.  It’s a disappointing start to my turnip trading adventures, but here’s hoping I’ll get lucky and at least get double what I paid for.

Rumors are flying around that Katrina will be back in town tomorrow.  She has a lot of nerve to come back to a town she’s already scammed!  I talked to Copper about her deceptive ways, but he couldn’t do much to look into her record, as apparently her real name isn’t even Katrina.  Go figure.

In good news though, the triceratops skeleton at the museum is finally complete!  Naturally I dashed over as soon as I heard so I could talk to Blathers and glean some knowledge from him.  I know he worries he talks way too much and that it might drive people away, but quite honestly I love listening to his seemingly-infinite knowledge regarding the museum’s artifacts.  Maybe when we get more exhibits in the museum, he’ll record an audio tour for his guests!

Not too long ago, while I was taking a walk by the beach, I caught our newest resident sleeping outside her house.  I woke her up, of course, because I can’t imagine sleeping outside like this is neither safe nor ideal.  She was extremely embarrassed, but thankful I didn’t let her stay out all night.

Oh, I almost forgot!  Tortimer decided on a convenient location for the new bridge that will make everyone happy!  It’ll be build right over the crook in the river in the acre below mine.  I can’t wait to see it finished – it’ll make visiting Mitzi a lot faster!
