I have two cats: Sofie, the overly jealous, fluffy, clumsy, playful, adorable yet kinda cranky caliby. I've had her since she was a kitten; she'll become thirteen in May. I love her so much Our other cat is called Myra, a red female (which is rare, because most gingers are male). She's actually my brother's cat from his first marriage; he had to come live with us again and brought Myra with him. We think she's eight or nine, but we're not sure. I feel bad when I say I'm not as attached to her as I am to Sofie, because she's really sweet, quirky, soft, and elegant.
I have had quite a rodeo with cats since December. My fur-baby Miller (an orange "Morris" cat) went into kidney failure and I had to put him to sleep. I cried for days and still miss him. He was eight and the best cat I have ever had and I've had quite a few at my age.
The landlord where I live has said after the present cats in the building are gone, we aren't allowed to have any more pets. My neighbor and I have conspired together and we just decided we would get cats that looked like our present ones. The landlord won't know the difference.
Sooooo I go to the shelter and I find a 10 month old kitten who is also an orange "Morris" cat, named Spice. Oh my, I had no idea what I was bringing home! This poor thing was the runt and I felt sorry for him. He's cute as a button but crazy, crazy, crazy. Did I mention crazy?
He can climb anywhere. He races around smacking into walls, table legs, doors full blast - I can hear his head hitting things and every once in awhile I see blood from cuts after he does that. It's like he has no filter. Miller was very smart. Tell him not to get on the counter twice and he never did it again. This one - not so much.
I have my entire kitchen covered in aluminum foil because cats don't like that. I look like I'm moving because I've packed anything breakable in boxes after he broke a bunch of my things. He knocked the screen out of the third floor window and tried to jump out but thankfully I got across the room fast enough to grab him by the tail.
I just keep waiting for him to get a little older and slow down but so far.......nothing!! I'm sitting here with this cat zooming around my head!!!

this, however, is such a good plan and you guys can essentially have cats there forever

That's funny because raisins.
I used to have a cat - we had to give him away a few months ago due to allergy development. I had him for 10 years. He's in a good place now, it's like a foster home for cats basically. I just got a tattoo in his memory a couple weeks ago, actually. He was my favorite. <3 I'm definitely going to have cats when I get older - at least two, since they always seem to be happiest when they have a friend.
And yeah, "infinite cats" seems like a good idea. Lol

What method do you guys generally use for training cats to use their scratch post? I keep hearing about different ways and it's hard to know which one works. Not that I'm planning on getting a cat anytime soon, but I'm just curious.

My Fiance has a cat her name is Muffin aka "Muffy" she's a cream cat. She's about 12 or 13 years old. He's had her since he was 12 or 13. His Mom and him found her on the side of the road when she was only a couple of days old. Some person was going around town throwing kittens out of their truck! They didn't know if she was going to make it. (She had worms and was severely dehydrated) But they were able to take care of her and she grew up to be a cutie! We've been together for 5 years now and Muffy always runs to me. Except in the morning when she wakes us up to feed her. (That's his job! )
Everyone has such cute cats!

The one I have has catnip inside it. Both Miller and Spice just walked up to it and started scratching. I don't know if it was the catnip or just some kind of instinct - like using the litterbox.
Edit: I kept hearing Spice crying a few minutes ago. I went searching and I found him with one of those small, square Kleenix boxes stuck on his head! I swear he looked embarrassed when I got it off!

Spice sounds like my Vermie. Vermie turns 3 on the 18th. He hasn't calmed down at all. He's missing a few (hundred) brain cells also. My 12 ear old cat is a total, how do I put this nicely, meanie head

I used to have a TON of farmcats roaming around my house, they were all so fun. We don't really have any cats any more though. Farm cats tend to disappear on you.

Spice is loving life right now because spring is here in my part of the country and I have the windows open all the time. After I used packing tape all around my screens (after he knocked one out and tried to jump) I feel more comfortable having them open.
He loves it, sits there and I can see his nose twitching as he smells everything. And I love that funny noise they make when they can't get to a bird!

I work at the local Dairy Queen and every now and then an old Calico we call "Sunday" shows up and we give them a small dish of vanilla to lick at. Haven't seen Sunday lately, but recently there's been a cat hanging around our storage shed we call "Mean Jim"

Finally, a thread for cat people like myself! I love cats so much! We used to have 4 here at home, but Mimi passed away about a year and a half ago and Moose passed away just a few days ago. The first time it was hard enough to deal with the loss of my baby, but to have it happen again to one of my babies just made the hurt even worse.
However, the other two are Keiko and Kingston. See a theme here? We happen to be a fan of M names and K names, as my name is Kelsie and my older brother's name is Mark.
Kingston is SUPER chunky, though. Last time we took him to the vet for a check up, he was 23.2 pounds! Wowza! Keiko is much smaller, but she's still carrying her winter coat around, so I'm preparing for shedding season! Bring it on!
Anyways, I'm getting kind of carried away here. I could end up writing a novel about my cats if I really wanted to! Cats are my babiesss!
There's a stray that lives near my relative that my cousin calls Quincy. It's a cute little black kitty with a white lower jaw, paws, and parts of his chest... so cute <3
I got to feed it yesterday since one of my cousins brought over some food for it. It ran right over to me, let us pet it and everything... we think maybe one of the tenants in the apartments nearby might be feeding it. It likes to chill out on their porch and around my relative's driveway, so it seems to be okay with human interaction. There are no tags, though, so we just figure it's a stray since it's always there. Quincy's a real cutie, though!
(If anyone plays Neko Atsume, my cousin pointed out that Quincy kind of looks like Socks, minus the ears and tail!)

About nine years ago I saw a rat in my house. I bought a cat and a mouse trap (the sticky poison kind) Well the first day I had em he managed to get into said trap...of course we cleaned him up pretty quickly and he was fine.
right after this he walked right into my room and turned off my gamecube while I was playing it and that is how he got his named that day.
He was around eight months old when I got him and was very playful he lived a very eventful life for a cat and if I would use one word to describe him it would be Warrior.
My current cute little ball of joy is named Sir Maxwell or just Max haha he has been with me for almost a year a lot more lazy then Jynx but just as easy going and Friendly.
