Does the Amiibo card system on here work at all? I did a trade a few weeks ago but no matter what I did, I couldn't figure out how to set up a card trade so I just went without, and of course this was a person who did not keep their end of the trade so I can't rate them. Is there actually a card trade/rate system here or is it broken? I would have loved to be able to use it :U
I believe the Trading Post for amiibo cards is still not live yet. In the meantime users are arranging the trade in its entirety via the PT system. It's not the best system, but hopefully the full trading post will go live in the near future!
This sticky might be helpful for any questions about the process.
"of course this was a person who did not keep their end of the trade"
Yeah, I just saw that - it was brought up on the main staff board. Unfortunately, there isn't an awful lot we can do once affairs move outside ACC. If you've actually lost real-world property to a scam, then it's a matter for the police, not for the ACC staff.
That said, the state of the Trading Post is pretty poor. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's not even working properly for e-Reader cards at the moment, and that was practically the central feature of the site when it was originally launched! There will be some improvements coming in the near future - 1.8.0 or maybe even 1.7.0 depending upon our organisation - but frankly, the code is just so old that amiibo card support before the big 2.0.0 rewrite would be a bit of a Herculean achievement.
So... yes, right now it's not a great situation. Pretty much the best advice I can give is to minimise attack vectors: always ask the other trader for a postage tracking number, as well as a photograph of the card with your username and the date.
There's no place like 192.168.0.0/16.
