I have been trying to breed a blue rose for well over a year. I play daily. I do all the things suggested in tips and tricks noted on ACC and elsewhere online. I am determined.  No luck.

My young daughter plays, sometimes. Every now and again I play her town to pull weeds, etc. She showed a little interest in breeding, so I gave her purple & orange roses, and explained the requisite 10,000 times that 10 year olds require to hear something before they 'get it', how to breed special reds to maybe get a blue. Every time I noticed a potential special red, I put it in a special spot, and told her.

I focus on other goals (finally got that sea globe!). I go into daughter's town so her character can get friendly with villagers so they will celebrate her birthday, this month. This sparks her interest, so she starts playing again.

After a couple months of not trying, she gets a blue rose.

I am NEVER going to live this down!

I paid her a million bells, and had to make Slurpee promises to get that thing from her!

I think I may have too many other hybrids in my town. *grumble*

So now I have a blue rose. On to the purple pansy!

Oh I know that feeling! Well done to her though!

I remember when playing WW there was a theory (that I think got proven) that the more flowers you have, the less likelihood it was of breeding hybrids. I certainly remember when I started my town, planting hybrid pairs together (I've always loved breeding flowers) and getting my first hybrids within the first few weeks - they were pink roses and I have now got them everywhere!

I remember that - that's what made me think I had too many kicking around. I have one of each of the flowers (just waiting on the purple pansy) in my museum, so I really shouldn't be so hybrid obsessed. LOL
