Is there a trick to keep your favourite villager as a permanent resident?

Can you just do the same trick as in Wild World where you agree to deliver a letter to someone for your favourite villager but after you delivered it, never tell your favourite villager that you delivered it?

You can only deliver packages in CF not letters. I dont know if it would work in the same fashion. Also I'm prerty sure your reputation in town will take a hit too if you dont tell them the job was finished. They respect you for delivering things for them.  You're an upstanding human amongst humans..would be cool if it worked though.

Aw that's a shame, I just started playing and have 2 of my favourite villagers already, Daisy and Gaston! Will just have to keep being extra nice to them

I do not know of a way to make your villagers perminent but I do know you have a chance to convince them not to move away when they start talking about moving away. Just keep choosing the "Don't go" everytime you have the chance and eventually they will change their mind. I've convinced Butch to stay twice. So as long as your able to catch them when they are still thinking about it you should be able to convince them not to move away.
