This is my approximate guide to how much you can speak to each personality type before actually detracting from the friendship.
It's not an official guide use my own observation:
FROM MOST TO LEAST TALKATIVE:
Smug: They rarely have a limit & never seem them get mad, just walk away in thought like all villagers do after prolonged conversation. You can't damage the friendship by speaking with them too much.
They react to multiple visits by saying how much they like the company & attention. They think you brighten each other's day.
They also like to speak about themselves, so they truly don't mind!
Peppy: You could talk to them about 10--even 15 times & it won't exactly bother them. In fact they LOVE to talk.
I haven't counted, but I am giving a rough idea form experiencing all the personalities over several games & months.
The worst thing that will happen is they will remark on how they can't keep track of how many times you have spoken, and this seems to frazzle them a bit---but they never get snappy or overly bothered by it.
Normally they greet you with gigantic smiles & enthusiasm.
Lazy: Lazy villagers don't really get mad. They don't speak as much as the peppies, but you are more likely to get bored about the constant food dialog than they are going to be worn out from you.
In fact they have a natural defense against working too hard at anything & that is literally zoning out or repeating the same thing over & over.
They also may ask you if you are feeling lonely when you visit them a few times a day.
Normal/ Jocks:These two have a similar tolerance for conversation--despite being very different personality types.
Unless you are close friends
normal types tend to be slightly introverted, and not extroverted like the Peppy types.
This means though polite, they won't be as warm about repetitive conversation--but like real life polite people that is hard to pick as it's so subtle.
They do end up calling you "their shadow" and dropping hints such as "I can't seem to bump into anyone else today!"
But unlike Cranky types or Uchis they won't tell you outright to "Zip It!!" like a certain Muffy does. So you won't really know.
Their facial expression may be distressed or the sheepish emotion, implying a certain discomfort with constant badgering conversation.
After becoming closer friends, these remarks change into things such as "It's been so nice having the opportunity to speak to you so much today" or something like that.
Jocks also have a medium tolerance for repeated conversations, but are a lot blunter than the nice types, so you will know straight away that they have some important running to do!
On the same token they seem less bothered by it than the normals, but can still get uncomfortable to an extent.
CrankyAfter befriending cranky types I'd say they fall in at 3rd just before the normals, and are quite friendly & tolerant.
However, as a general rule of thumb when getting to know them I'd speak for a maximum or 5 times broken up to avoid getting hit by some gruff dialog.
After friendship is established, they simply show concern rather than annoyance when you speak to them often, and act like you need to be comforted.
They love to care for you, and are similar to the smug in ways of being quite sweet to their friends.
UchiThese guys are a bit moody. They are sweethearts with very interesting & funny dialog, that can also be blunt & abrasive.
They express many emotions, and are the most "realistic" villagers because they aren't always in a good mood, and like humans they can be a tad mean sometimes.
Sometimes you could talk to them many times a day. Others it only takes 2-3 times in a row before they comment on how much you are speaking with them.
Ironically they are the most trustworthy, and will always give you medicine & advice.
In my town Muffy only like to be spoken to 5 times a day before she gets distressed, and hides in her home.
Phoebe is moody & LOVES to talk some days, and ping me often for random things, and other times she is like Muffy.
Muffy trades with me constantly & is only out traded by Tangy, who pings me for everything in my inventory.
However, despite all the trading the Uchis do (and ask the most favours) they still may be rude when you greet them.
What did you think of my conversation guide? What were your experiences?I haven't had enough Snooty villagers to say where they sit. What do you think the entry on snooties should say?
