Ah, Disney Infinity. Just made an awesome find of my own.
The actual Disney Infinity figures are forwards compatible with future games, so any 1.0 or 2.0 figures you have you can use in the Toy Box. As time is going on though, the 1.0 figures such as Elsa, Ralph, and Woody are virtually nonexistent outside of stores like Toys R Us, but as a tip, check out Walgreens stores. Some of them have Infinity figures.
As for the Play Sets, those are locked to specific game and require a specific Play Set piece in order to play. You can often find the Play Set pieces used at GameStop stores for fairly reasonable prices.
If you're wanting to have access to everything the franchise has to offer, you would be best to purchase a Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack, as that will also include an Infinity Base. If you have a Wii U, you can get a digital version of the original Disney Infinity as a completely free download, while 2.0 is available for $19.99. Be warned though, they are both large downloads, and will likely only fit if you have an external hard drive attached to your console.
......yeah, I'm kind of a fan, so feel free to contact me directly if you wanna ask more questions or wanna play together.
Great thank you! I just got the 3.0 Starter Kit for Wii U today! I was gonna get a couple more figures too but I already spent a lot of money. I want to get some of the older ones later, and all the Inside Out ones. I see myself getting addicted to these like Amiibos. We should definitely play sometime!
