I've been playing everyday for a long time each day for about three months & have not gotten any photos.

I have the third letter writing badge (the Gold badge)& also talk to them a LOT. Most of my time is actually spent chatting & writing letters.

You can see because I don't have 3 star bell saver badges, and my house isn't finished, but I have spent most of my time creating friendships.

They visit my house often & smile at me when we sit next to each other on a bench---but STILL NO PHOTOS...

This is actually a bit disappointing to see some people have gotten villager photos many times & they don't even have the Gold letter writing badge???

What is going on?

Aww sorry to hear about your sentiment. When you talk to your villagers, do you try to help them out? If they ask you for a fruit, do you give them the perfect one? If they ask you for a fish in the ocean, do you try to get the rarest one? Those are just some of the many tricks of getting a pic from them (: You will get one eventually. Just be patient

If you ever get tired of waiting, just let the villager go and you`ll have the pic you truly wish (only if you`re friends with them of course!).

I had a couple from the couple that moved.

I always give perfect fruit if I have it, but I think the thing lacking is the bugs and fish as for some reason they ask me for ones that aren't even in season!

I'll keep trying, I think you're right though the only thing I haven't done enough of is the bug/fish catching.
I just wish they would ask me during the many hours I am playing, not five minutes before saving --"hey can I have a GOLDEN STAG!"

But this gives me the idea to start hoarding bugs & fish IN MY DRAWERS lol so this can be fixed.

For me, I pretty much always did every errand they ask, if possible (you're right that sometimes they ask for an extremely rare bug/fish). The easy ones are fruit, new furniture, delivering packages, etc.

Also, I always visited/let them visit, gave them new greetings/catchphrases, gave them medicine, etc. In no time, it seems, I would get their picture as an errand reward. I think I've even received one in the mail, but I'm not positive about that.

I used to play hide and seek, but that always took too much time for me, and required treading off my paths.

It sounds like you're pretty good friends with your villagers, so keep doing errands and you should receive a picture as a reward.

I'm having the same problem with Diana. We have a REALLY high friendship, and she hasn't given me her photo. I had a lower friendship with Camofrog, and he gave me his picture.

Things are on pause at the moment---keeping the game wound back until I can fill the 9th spot----looking for Tangy at the moment.
The town hasn't had a peppy villager & it's quite unbalanced.

I've never lacked a peppy (except for like three days after I started), but I do know that feel when I hadn't had a jock or cranky for a while. I didn't get a jock until June (Iggly moved in like June 12 or something) when Pierce moved out in Feb., (although I despise jocks now) and a cranky until June when Chow moved in, which I had not had one since April when Hopper moved. It just felt unbalanced.

I just let the villagers do what they do so it's a surprise when I get a picture. It was also a shock how I have gotten THREEEEEEEE pictures from Canberra (two if you are the kind of person who doesn't count AF pics).

The same thing has been happening to me and the only time I get photos now is when they move away.
I've gotten plenty of photos from months back, even getting double, now they randomly stopped and only after they left, did two villagers send me their photo.

It's so annoying

If it helps, I got my game in 2013, have never restarted my town, and still have a couple of the original villagers, yet still have only gotten photos from 2 villagers ever- neither of which were the original villagers from my town that are still there. Both were smugs who were around for at least a year before I got their pics. >> I don't write letters daily, but I spend HOURS talking with villagers and doing favors for them.

If you have space in your museum keep some bugs/fish for last minute requests.
If it's an out of season bug than just so no.  Or try the island to see if you can get one.
