OK! Nook's is going to close very soon, so maybe we can do it tomorrow.
No, e-cards aren't involved here. When you talk to Tom Nook and go to "Other things," you can either hear a code or say a code. This code, or password allows you to send items to other towns. You hear the code from Tom Nook, copy it down on here, and I tell it to Mr. Nook, and I get the item!
For example, I may want to send you, oh, say, an apple. I would ask Tom Nook to Hear Code and he would ask me what the town name and character name of the person I want to send this apple to is. I would type, then, your GC town and name, respectively, and then I would proceed to give Tom Nook the apple. He would give me two lines of jumbled letters and characters, and I would then, in our trade, tell you this code. Then you'd copy this code EXACTLY in-game under [color-brown]Say Code[/color]. If you correctly copy the password, Tom Nook will give you a wrapped gift, when, unwrapped, will reveal an apple.
It's a very fun system to use. In City Folk, you could also send items without going to their town via letters. Why this feature isn't in New Leaf I'll never understand.
Does that make sense?

I, also am getting slightly scared by how many shirts i own. if any one is interested I may take the time to see what ive got. I am collecting kiddie furniture and the couch and bed are 2 items i would be willing to trade A LOT of t-shirts for.
You still doing this? I just restarted my town after not playing in at least 9 years and I still need to repay my loan! I'll take most anything, if I don't like it I can just sell it. As stated before, I just started so I can't give much in return, but I have coconuts and oranges!
